Hi there, how can I change the template used inside each category folder (WPDM directory add-on)? On the demo page (first section of folders on https://try.wpdownloadmanager.com/), when I click on ‘Free downloads – explore’, I see this (https://try.wpdownloadmanager.com/downloads/free-downloads/). On my site, I see this when clicking ‘explore’: https://ibb.co/bPCvdTv
The items inside the category show as plain links. Ideally I want them to show as an icon, title and a download button, roughly like this: https://ibb.co/z409jMF
How can I change the template for what shows inside the category folder?
Hello neds steven,
Are you trying to get this type of table,
WPDM ALL DOWNLOADS
Please let me know
Thank you and regards
Hello @duhs-support,
Thank you for the login credentials.
About the upload size issue, some other plugins may be conflicting. Please try after disabling other third-party plugins.
Also, please try one more time after deactivating the Chunk Upload
option. Here’s the reference screenshot: https://prnt.sc/-7KPnebm_XmT.
Regarding the Downloads > All Packages and click on a package (any package)
issue.
I have checked your website, and it appears that several files are not loading from your server and throwing 500 (Internal Server Error)
.
Please check the reference screenshot: https://prnt.sc/-mTCRXIuIKRe.
Here is what you can do to check:
1. Please try switching to another theme, like Twenty Twenty-one
, and check whether the issue persists or not. If not, then it is the theme that is causing the error.
2. Deactivate all plugins temporarily except WPDM and see if that solves the problem. Then, activate plugins one by one to see which plugin is causing the problem.
3. Try one more time after clearing your browser, website, and CDN caches if you have any. You may temporarily disable the caching plugin for testing.
If the problem still exists, please get in touch with your server admin regarding the 500 (Internal Server Error)
.
Please let me know how that goes. I will be happy to help with any further assistance you might need.
Yes, they are coming through a link template. Through Elementor specifically. Each package has downloads that are listed using [file_list]
Screenshots for reference.

Hello,
About two months ago, I started having trouble uploading certain PDFs to our website. I found that by reducing the size, they would upload. Now I cannot get anything to upload, despite reduced size.
Additionally, when I go to Downloads > All Packages and click on a package (any package), the page is always “thinking” and never fully loads, just keeps performing TLS handshake, waiting, and transferring data. Can someone help me with this, please?
Thanks.
Hi Nayeem,
Sorry for the late reply. I’ve already tried using the sample.csv but this was the cause of the problems in my initial post.
I had uploaded my downloads into the media manager and then linked to them in the ‘files’ column in the csv file. You then pointed out that this is why my downloads are opening as attachments rather than downloading to the user’s computer.
You said that the way around this is to use the ‘select from server’ button, but unless I’ve misunderstood, this would mean I can’t bulk upload using the csv file.
Essentially my question is: is it possible to bulk upload through a csv file while ensuring that any files will be downloaded rather than opening as an attachment?
Many thanks
Hello,
Hope you are well.
You have to use the parameter orderby
to sort the downloads.
you can sort by title, download_count, date, modified ( update date ), or id, it’s an optional parameter.
for id parameter, if you want to show multiple categories, in case of multiple category slugs, should be separated by a comma.
For more details please check:

Hello Flugsportclub Miltenberg,
We are using bootstrap for responsive designing. However, I think you are using a very small device? I have checked that, here the page approximately working fine
https://responsivedesignchecker.com/checker.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.edfu.de%2Fdownloads&width=414&height=736
please check and let me know.
Thank you and regards
Hi Nayeem,
thank you very much.
The URL (Downloads, Allpackages) is:
https://minakova.de/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wpdmpro
The URL to the Download of the package “Russisch für Anfänger” (for example) is:
Geschützt: Russisch für Anfänger 3./4. Auflage
If you click on the button Download and enter the correct password, you will still see “Please enter the correct password” – although
the download was successful! But people don’t know that they already have 3-4 downloads on their PC’s because after each download, they still see the text “Please enter the correct password”!
I’ll send you the passwords per email.
Thank you and best regards
Hello,
Hope you are well.
First of all set access to loggend in roles.

then
To remove password Make sure that the tick icon is blue colored. It it is, just click on it.

Also make sure there is no password set in attached single files:

Hope in this way you will be able to set the downloads members only and without passwords.
Thanks
Hello Stefanie,
You can use the below shortcode to set category page. That is better.
There is order_by parameter what you could use for shortcode:
[wpdm_category] – Query All Downloads From One or More Categories
Thanks
Hello,
Sorry to see the issues.
However, WPDM is seo friendly but it doesn’t affect any seo related issues directly. The problem I found there is not related to WPDM. There could be other reasons. You have to just identify those. These are all seo-related issues that have no relation to WPDM. WPDM just deals with it’s own downloads. I think if you delete the wpdm plugin and related pages, you will see the same errors.
In this case, I would suggest you to follow the complete guide here I Hope following this will solve the issue.
Thanks

Hello Nick,
Hope you are well. And sorry for the inconvenience. For updating the WPDM main plugin, Please simply click the Save Settings again for the license key option from Downloads > Settings > License
, and then please update the plugin from the wp-admin > plugins
panel. For saving settings again for the license key option from Downloads > Settings > License
, that will regenerate the access token. Thus the plugin will be updated, hope that, it will solve your issue.
And for add-on updates, you can follow these steps,
1 ) Download the latest version from here https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/user-dashboard/?udb_page=purchases
2 ) Install the latest version and activate.
I hope it will work fine then. please let me know if you face such an issue
Thank you and regards
Sure, I will try to explain. Currently when I add my download items for customers to purchase there are only two options (or there is only one option) to put in the price. That is good for the regular downloads that I have so far.
Now comes, that I would like to add the option for the customers to have the option (if they choose) to go the subscription route with the same downloads. If they pay a monthly/yearly subscription they can download the same items for FREE. I want to do this without having to set up a different system (plugin) if possible.
There was the user management system (subscription service) that I tried to install but it ended up locking my users out and not letting them log in. So I uninstalled it.

Hello, I would like to export all the file downloads from my site to another site as a replacement, but I don’t know how to go about it.
can you help me? or it is not possible
I’m also experiencing the bulk import telling me it identified and successfully imported all of my files via the CSV, but when I look at my downloads, any file title that has an apostrophe, em dash or en dash. These characters worked previously.

Hello Vinod,
Hope you are well. For disallowing crawling by the Search Engine. You can Mask Download Link
, If you mask the download link, bots will not be able the find any public download link easily. You are able to find this setting from Downloads > Settings> Basic Settings
. please check.
And another way for making disallow Crawling Download Manager Pages Google, Bing + search engines is, Add the following code at the end of your active theme’s functions.php
:
function noindex_for_wpdm()
{
if ( is_singular( 'wpdmpro' ) ) {
echo '<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">';
}
}
I hope it may help you. Please check and let me know
Thank you and regards
Thx. We will test this.
Can you also tell me something about opening downloads in a new browser window? I know it works in some layouts, but not in the table form as we have it:
[wpdm_all_packages items_per_page="30" jstable=1 order_by="field_name" order="ASC/DESC" cols="title|download_link|categories" colheads="Title|Download|Partner"]
Dear Nayeem,
it’s complicated and it occurred to me at some point that it could also be due to the license. I have pulled the customer site on a subdomain to test. I forgot that I probably also need the license?
Second point: my customer needs the opening downloads absolutely in a new window. Therefore we got an adjustment in the class.Package.php from you as the manufacturer at that time. But this file doesn’t work anymore in the current WPDM version, that’s why the customer website still has version 5.1.18 installed.
Is there a possibility to have download files on a different domain to use a different storage space
AND to have them always open in a new window (target) with the current WPDM, so we don’t need any customization and also the backup files are not so big?
Somewhat desperate greetings
Julia
Hello CHS,
I have adjusted the option from Downloads > Settings > Basic > Access Settings > When user is not allowed to download:
, Now all categories are coming properly for the wpdm_tree
shortcode, please check and let me know.
Thank you and regards
Dear Nayeem,
I am at a loss or do not understand the system.
For example, if I upload a PDF to /home/www/alldownloads I can assign it to a download in WordPress. But in the frontend this can not be loaded by download. I get the error message of a critical error.
If I upload a file via WordPress in the normal way, I thought it will be stored in the file folder I entered in the settings (see above). But this is not the case. My test files are still uploaded under wp-content/uploads/download-manager-files but not found on frontend.
I still tried to disable all other plugins. The same result
Could you please help me again?
Hello Daniel,
Sorry for not understanding properly about the template tag. The template tag you can use in any page/link templates from the Downloads > Templates
section, if you are using the PRO version, you will be able to see details of it. And after using it within any link-template you will be able to use any of your shortcode parameters. I hope you have understood now. And do you want to show the view button for the wpdm_all_packages
shortcode too, please let me know.
Thank you and regards
