It is not allowing me to access login page, probably some IP restriction is applied there.
Allowed roles from selected categories will merged with package access. For example “Category A” and “Category B” selected for “Package P” from “Categories” metabox, “Subscribers” has access to “Category A”, “Editors” has access to “Category B”, “Authors” is selected for “Allow Access” field in “Package P”.
Now, Effective Access to "Package P" = Selected roles in "Allow Access" field + All selected roles for "Category A" + All selected roles for "Category B" = Subscribers, Authors, Editors

If you want to use any external url, you need to use that field, otherwise, you can keep it empty for same page like.

a) I can’t use multiple ctrl clicks or contiguous shift clicks to select multiple files

Don’t worry, no bug there actually, you simply need to set it up properly, after moving to pro version, you may feel it little complex due to lots of new options.
I need to check it in your installation to see, what exactly happening there and how you set it up.
Google rreview will not work for protected packages, as to see the preview, user must have access to that package, and when using google preview, it access to preview from google’s ip where user is not logged in and don’t have access to the package when allow access set to administrator.

@n2o-designs, it is not about free or pro, you actually need to increase file size limit form your server setting, please ask your server/hosting support, they will do that for you. I see your max upload file size limit is 64 MB.
