you need to use shortcode in category page, for example:

You can add/remove any of those things in template files – go to /download-manager/templates/, download page template you are using, then edit – it’s simple html with few custom tags.

Pretty sure it’s the same as usual – delete old main plugin(download manager on plugin list) then install latest version, packages won’t be touched, since they are stored on database.

AFAIK you need to set link template for category shortcode, otherwise it won’t work, only page template can be changed in package settings.

Shaon told me, that he noted my sugestion about adding “default link/page” template to misc settings, but dunno when it will be added.

– Featured image: i know, that i can skip that, but my theme(wp template) shows featured images on posts by default and i wanted to change their scale only in WPDM packages, because not all of images for packages(in my situtation) can be as big as images for normal posts, in the end i’m getting stretched images, example:

it’s kinda problematic, since there is at least few packages in my installation with images, that can’t be bigger – as you can see it’s just looks weird 🙂

– Custom fields: i created today sample page for tests(normal wp page, not from wpdm) and some kind of custom codes appeared(see attachment). I know, that one of them comes from disqus comment system(at least i think it is), but not sure about others.

Other thing about custom fields – if i’m gonna add [custom_fields] into template, won’t it show fields that i mention above? or mess up something?

Will wait for next update and thanks in advance.

Four more things:

– Size(of package) does not work, there’s “package size” in package settings, but it is not related to size from table info
– Why can’t i set comments open/closed per package? I was thinking after v4 i will be able to do that, but still i can do that only for archives/categories – places, where i want them off. Is it possible to implement “discussion” tab into packages, so i will be able to set whenever user can comment package or not?
– Featured image is really big in most of templates, same goes with mine – i would like to make it smaller or scalable, so it won’t look “that” big. I can’t mess with CSS in my WP theme, because featured images in normal pages will be messed up – any advice here?
– There’s always some kind of custom fields added for packages like “feature_bg” etc. what are they for? and why i can’t remove them?

2. Just remove line including [version] from page template
4. Did you tried updating this field? This works just fine on my website. Otherwise you can try changing page template.
5. It doesn’t save, but template is changing? Kinda weird bahaviour if you ask me, but haven’t got that kind of problem in any version od WPDM.
7. Can’t help you with this one, as i’m not using this plugin.
8. Pretty sure it will be, once support will notice that 🙂
9. Haven’t found plugin with that specific name – but other too with “almost” same name was outdated, dunno if it’s the problem but you might try looking for alternative with same functions in meantime.

I’m not raging on Shaon/WPDM staff either, so far there’s no better download plugin – but they really should put more time into testing and work with some predetermined plan, i think we will just need to wait a little bit longer 🙂

ehhh it was that simple, just to use rel on page template, ofc now when it’s custom post type it’s possible – thanks for advice, didn’t think of that.

only thing that bothers me right now is grouping by the default(i’m using WP lightbox2), don’t really now how to disable it, since there is no option for that in settings, but it’s not related to topic so i’m happy anyway 🙂

1. It’s featured image and copy of it, that’s because thumbs doesn’t work right now – few ppl waiting for fix, including me.
2. Either you put version in package info, or delete line including [version] from page template.
3. Install http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-image-button/
4. You need to be more specific… screenshot?
5. Don’t really know what’s the issue here, it works at end?
6. I had more than 100 files, it was about hour of work but yes, there was people with hundreds of files and it must been a bit of pain for them ;p

About template editor – if i were you i would use text editor like notepad++ it’s much more convenient.

Shortcode with category is something you need to talk about with Shaon, but i’m pretty sure at end you will need to change sidebar plugin :\

Hmmm forum cut the parts of code, i can’t see main thumb code – can you post it in pastebin for example and give link?

in my case thumbs doesn’t work either, seems like function is missing or something, but i’ll wait for shaon to fix it 🙂

for example – as you can see there’s just featured image and copy of it below, thumb and thumbs_gallery still does not work.

This time there is no interfere with team, everything works like it should except thumbs function.

You can delete wdmpro page in 4.0, but i would wait for 4.0.1 update if i were you and get ready to set few things manually.

If i were you i would wait for 4.0.1 – there’s still few things missing and today/tomorrow there will be update. AFAIK you will need to set files for categories by hand. Other thing is templates – it’s a bit different in v4, so you will need to set few things manually.

Sorry Shaon, but i can’t agree with you on this one, it’s pretty far from even 50%:

and it’s only template, that looks “decent” – any other is complete mess, but now i know it comes from my WP theme css, so i can change it to something new(i hope…)

I’m pretty sure we have some missunderstanding in thumbs case – i’m not talking about featured image, but about additional images – i can set featured image for package, but there’s no additional images(thumb_galery function?) – isn’t there a possibility to rewrite thumb to another function/style so it will work like in 3.7/3.8? I really liked the way it was before and now it’s not even possible to get normal looking page-template with those standard featured images… my users get used to old looking and now there will be a bit of disappointment. I really hope, that you understand what i have on my mind.

btw. no matter what link-template i will set for categories it’s always messed up, not only images, but tables, text etc. pretty sure it’s interfere somehow with WP theme but can’t guess what it is…

another thing – i noticed, that thumbnails does not work on demo site either:

1. ok, i get it – but do i need to put it in wordpress theme folder or WPDM template folder?
7. It will show featured image in page template, but all other(additional) images are not there, same goes for link-template, without any reference there’s no image at all in link template. Still would like to use that thumbnails as they were pretty useful.

Will send temp admin info, maybe there’s bigger issue.

1. Still not clear, WPDM may somehow interfere with my WordPress template? Using WordPress template dedicated for 3.8 will fix that?
2. I guess i need to send temporary admin info’s, what was the email again?
3. I was talking about link template, will wait for update with default link template setting.
7. Won’t it remove image completely? It’s not really something i would like to achive… i liked images i was using in 3.7 – any alternative?

I meant “attach file” panel(http://s11.postimg.org/wyogd4zar/panel_F.jpg), i think it would be more convenient if this panel would be under package settings(main column), not really a priority, but maybe others will share my opinion.

This is demos i was looking for 🙂 Is there demos for page templates?

would be nice to see some awnsers for my problems too 🙂

For starters – i see, that there’s no possibility to change package style-type in widget(full width, 2 columns etc. – just like in normal pages).

Next thing – like i said there’s some jQuery error, i’m not sure if it’s related to my wordpress template or is it something from WPDM, there was no problems in 3.7. Now i don’t know if i should use another WP template of stick with my and wait for WPDM update…

There’s still questions i asked before, still waiting for awnser.

btw. – you have some release date for 4.0.1?

my suggestions:

– “version” of course
– put “Add file” panel on bottom or above file misc info settings’ it’s pretty annoying as widget
– add default styles to WPDM settings for all types(link, page and archive templates) with “off” option, using shortcodes for everything is a bit painful
– some kind of demos for link/page templates
– option to change “post type”(package) style, just like in pages(full-width, 2 columns etc. )
– few options for pagination style, default one is not really good-looking(yeah i know it can be changed via css, but i would prefer not to change css on every update :\ )

– last thing is my “personal” suggestion, add newsletter plugin option for “subscribe for this file only” – by that i mean that user, who subscribed for file will get email adnotation everytime when file were updated(for example it can be set for “last update” field).

the product itself is better, since there is possibility to set SEO options for it and those pages can be indexed by gogle now, but the bad thing is that the plugin is somehow interfere with WP theme in most cases :\ I hope, that most of it will be fixed soon.

From what Shaon told me you need to set link template in shortcode – so it will be:
