Thanks for sharing the link. I have a couple of additional questions:

1) Is it possible to to just exclude a particular category from showing up in the drop down by using a modified version of the shortcode (i.e., without needing to edit anything in the PHP file)?

2) Is it possible to exclude certain items from being displayed in the archive grid area (based on the assigned “tag”) by using a modified version of the shortcode?

Here is the code that I am currently using:

[wpdm-archive category=”1145″ cols=”4″ cat_view=”compact” button_style=”default” link_template=”5d277d746310d” order_by=”post_title” order=”asc” items_per_page=”12″]

Please let me know. Thanks.

Given that this is from April 2018, I wanted to follow up on this to see if there have been any updates in the software, which would now allow for users to use the bulk import option with Dropbox (without needing to use a CSV file). Please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification. I have a few follow up questions:

1) Which parts of the sample code do I need to modify to reflect my membership level (i.e., wordpress role)?

Is it just the part that says: [ ‘wpdm_package_membership_levels’, 10, 1 ]

If so, what does the 10, 1 stand for? Are these user role IDs?

I will have some files that are assigned to multiple user role levels, but I would want the label to indicate the lowest level required to access the file. For example, a file that requires a minimum of a Free Basic membership to access would need to be flagged as “Basic”, but all of our higher membership plans would also have access to download that file. Does this mean that all of our higher membership user roles would also need to be listed where the 10, 1 is in the above code (in addition to listing the free basic role)? If so, does the order of the user role IDs in the code matter in regards to which tag is shown?

2) Do I paste this code into my theme’s functions.php file or is there somewhere else that this code needs to go?

3) If I want to make a few custom tags for the various membership levels, do I just repeat this same code multiple times in my functions.php file or does the existing code need to be modified to allow for me to make multiple tags for multiple membership levels?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. The demo link looks great.

I am using a third party membership program that controls access to different things depending on their WordPress user role, so I am just assigning different wordpress user role levels to my packages. For example, “Basic” role (free membership required), “Premium” (paid premium membership required), etc.

Is it possible to do what you have described in the custom template tag if I am not using your the WP Download Membership Addon? I would like to do what you have described, but just have it be based on the name of the WordPress role that is assigned to that product. Please let me know.

Can you please clarify the difference between the “Details Page” and the “Shortcode Page” in the above screenshot of the button settings?

Thanks.

Glad you liked the idea. Do you have an ETA on when this will be added to the Forums?

As a follow-up to her initial question, can you please advise if it is possible to filter by “tag” as a dropdown of Directory Add-on?

If so, is it possible to limit the specific tags that will show up in the drop down given that WP Download Manager does not have its own set of tags (i.e., it shares the main tags from WordPress)? For example, if you have 200 tags in WordPress, but only want 30 specific tags to show up as a filtering option in the dropdown of Directory Add-on.

Please advise.

This is very helpful. Thanks.

What adjustments would need to be made to this code to exclude by assigned “tag”?

Hi Mike, thanks for sharing. Which of the paid versions is needed to edit WPDM Downloads? Is it the version called “Edit Posts, Pages, and Custom Post Types With a Spreadsheet”? Please let me know.

Perfect. That resolved the issue. Thanks!!!

Thanks. That resolved the problem.

The only remaining problem that I see now is that if you click the arrow to go to page 2, you will see a big gap in white space between the packages. Is this due to some titles taking up one line and some titles taking up two lines, such that it throws off the rows/columns? Is there any way to mitigate this issue other than me needing to making sure that all titles take up exactly one line (or that all titles take up exactly two lines)? I imagine that this is a common problem for sites with hundreds or thousands of packages that have different title lengths.

Please advise.

Thanks

Thanks. That does the trick. The only remaining problem that I am experiencing now with the shortcode is that it always shows 10 thumbnails per page (i.e., 10 posts) regardless of what I change the number to.

posts_per_page=”10″

For example, the following code still shows 10 posts per page (even though it is set to show 12 posts per page).

[wpdm_packages categories="category-1, category-2, category-3" login="0" paging="1" order_by="field name" order="asc or desc" posts_per_page="12" template="5d277d746310d" cols=4 colspad=2 colsphone=1]

Any idea why that is happening?

Thanks. Can you please clarify which display options/shortcodes are considered as the “dynamically sized featured images” in the plugin?

Yes, I agree! This would be very helpful!

in reply to: Using Carousel and Slider #113407

Thank you for the reply.

1) Is there a particular dimension for the image that the featured images need to be in for them to look proper in the slider or carousel? If so, please provide the dimensions.

2) Is the slider and carousel the only two shortcodes that require the use of featured images (i.e., do all other shortcodes just rely on the auto-generated thumbnails)?

3) Can you please address the second comment from my prior post regarding the glitch with the Carousel demo on your site?

Thanks

Thanks for the explanation. I have a couple of follow up questions:

1) For this scenario, does the download manager track the button click as a “download” (even though the user is not actually downloading anything)? I am wondering for the purposes of tracking stats and allowing users to sort all packages based on popularity.

2) How would a thumbnail be generated for a package that does not have an actual PDF download? Would I need to temporarily attach a PDF (that has the image I want to use for the thumbnail) to the package when creating it (so that a thumbnail can be auto-generated) and then remove the PDF from the package after the thumbnail has been generated? Or are there other ways to generating thumbnails for packages that do not have a PDF associated to them.
