I have an existing installation with “Download Manager Free” and wanna upgrade to “Download Manager Pro” – does this affect my existing installation? Could i use the existing packages under an update to “Download Manager Pro”?

  1. Download latest version of WordPress Download Manager Pro from same location in orders page.
  2. Unzip the package
  3. Upload files to /wp-content/plugins/download-manager/ using ftp
  4. login to wp admin
  5. deactivate download manager
  6. re-activate download manager
  7. Download and install copy to pro add-on from here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/copy-to-pro/
  8. Go to wp-admin Downloads Settings Copy to premium tab, and you will see the list of files you create with free version, check all copy
  9. and done!

What exactly will the licensing feature allow? Would I be allowed to put an expiration date on a license? Can I create a trial? Can I create a subscription license? Is a unique product key created every time a user purchases a file?

“Would I be allowed to put an expiration date on a license” – yes
“Can I create a trial” – yes, it same as creating a key for certain period
“unique product key created every time a user purchases a file” – yes.

@jeannelking, no need of ftp any more:

  1. Delete free version
  2. then follow the steps here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/docs/installing-wordpress-download-manager-pro/
  3. Now if you need to import files from free to pro, Download and install copy to pro add-on from here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/copy-to-pro/
  4. Go to wp-admin Downloads Settings Copy to premium tab, and you will see the list of files you create with free version, check all copy
  5. and done!
