Email Lock & Form Lock Questions

I have a few questions regarding the Email Lock and Form Lock options.

When I enable the Email Lock option, is there a way to send the supplied email address (other information) to specific email address? My client needs to collect these email addresses, and contact number, for legal compliance reasons, as well as know for which document this email was supplied for.

Or is this something that can only be done with the Form Lock where I create the form and once it is submitted it can then send that information to any email address I specify? Also should I use the Form Lock, how can I include inside the email, for which document the email address was supplied for? I am thinking of using WPForms for this.

Hello Theo Wormsbaecher,

Hope you are well. I suggest you to use Form Lock, it has extended options that you may can collect information from your users. However, for details you may check these articles and plugin pages,

Lock Options

Form Lock – Ask users to fill a form to get access to download

also our form plugin, live form, https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-live-forms/.

Please kindly check and let me know.

Hello Nayeem Riddhi,

Thanks a lot for your response. I figured that the Form Lock would be my best option to achieve what I need.

Also thanks for sharing the links to the different options. I’ve had a look at them and they do not show clearly how to:

  1. set it up that I can add the name of the document being downloaded is shown inside of the email content (WPForms)

Could you advice on how to do this. I just want to make double sure that I can do what I need it to do before I purchase the needed add-on’s.

Hello Nayeem Riddhi,

Thanks for your follow-up.

To clarify, I’d like the email notification (sent via WPForms after a user submits the form) to include the name of the specific document that was downloaded. This is important for my client’s compliance tracking, so they know which document the user accessed when providing their email and contact number.

I’m not looking to attach the actual file to the email—just to include the document name (or package name) in the email content itself.
Could you please advise if this is possible with WPDM Live Forms or WPForms integration with Form Lock? And if so, how I can set it up so that the document name dynamically appears in the email message?

Thanks again for your help!

I want to know more elaborately, when you create File(in free version)/Package(in Pro version), then you attach files to that File/Package. Do you want to send your users via Email the attached file name which the user will download or the whole File/Package name that we identify from WP-Admin > Downloads section. Please kindly check and let me know.

Thank you and regards

Thanks for the clarification! I’m referring to the Download Package name from WPDM – the name shown in WP-Admin > Downloads. I’d like that name to appear in the email notification sent via WPForms or WPDM Live Forms after a user submits the form.

This way, my client knows which document the user accessed when they provided their contact details.

I’m not looking to include or attach the actual file — just the package name in the email content.

Thanks a lot for confirming that it is possible with the WPDM Live Forms plugin.

I have a few other questions:

  1. Is this also possible to do this with the WPForms plugin to get the package name inside of the email content?
  2. Could you give me the instructions on how to do it within both the WPDM Live Forms plugin and WPForms. I just want to see how this is done, and it might be useful to others in the future.

We have not implemented option for WPForms, but we have option for Live Forms and Gravity Form [wpdm_package_id] as a default value, the tag will be replaced by package ID automatically when rendering a form. Please kindly check.

Thank you

Thank you again for confirming that it’s possible to include the package name in the email using the WPDM Live Forms plugin and Form Lock.

To proceed, I’d really appreciate it if you could provide step-by-step instructions on how to correctly add the [wpdm_package_id] shortcode into the Live Forms plugin setup. Specifically:

  • Where exactly should I insert the [wpdm_package_id] shortcode within the form configuration to ensure it appears in the email notification?
  • Do I need to configure anything additional in the Form Lock settings or the email template to make sure the package name is included dynamically?

Also, I noticed that there is a Free version of the Live Forms plugin available on your site (https://wpliveforms.com/pricing-plans/). Could you please confirm:

  • Is the Free version sufficient for this functionality, or would I need to upgrade to a paid version of Live Forms to use [wpdm_package_id] with Form Lock?
  • I understand that I still need to purchase Download Manager Pro and the Form Lock add-on, but I’d like to keep costs as low as possible, so I want to be sure if the free Live Forms plugin will work for this use case.

Thanks again for your support, and I look forward to your guidance!

I have information from our team authority that, you need to use a hidden field and as value use [wpdm_package_title], thus it will render the package title. And you have to use Live Form Pro version. Please check and let me know if you have need any more information.

Thank you and regards

Thank you for getting back to me with how I can get the package name into the email notification content.

One more question:

  • How can I get / set the package name into the subject line of the email notification?

Not possible as it is now, but package name will be included in the email body in the next version, however, for your requirement, it is possible through some customization, you can knock here with your requirements, https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/custom-upgrade-service/. Please kindly check.

Thank you
