Hi,
bothering again…

I have enabled the Guest Checkout, my client prefers avoid users, and set the [wpdmpp_guest_orders] shortcode on a guest page.
Purchase process is fine, asking for First/Last and Email only, but on email I got after purchase I am asked to create an account to login and download my file, which is not what we want.

May you advise on how to set it up correctly?
Ideally would be best if customers could download via a link from email sent after purchase…

Thank you
fabrizio

Hi Tahasin and thanks for reply.
I’ve followed lines as on provided doc and I am now able to purchase and download as guest, but still a few things to underline.

When I am redirected to guest orders page right after paying for order, the email and order ID fields are filled in with data from a former order whose I’ve tested guest download after I’ve amended WPDM setup (order was from couple of days ago). I’ve placed 2 test orders today and same happens for both, so I am downloading from the wrong order/customer.
To notice, as of now I have one PDF only to test purchases with.

On the email I’ve got after today’s orders, after amending WPDM as per doc provided, I still have the message to create an account to download, with the ‘Signup’ CTA/link, would it be possible change this? Ideally set it up with guest orders page link at least, if then with customers’ data also (email and order#) would be great.

I meant to test purchase from other browsers to check if I had same behavior, but instead got an even worse one on both: when I click ‘Add to cart’ and am redirected to cart page, I have the message “No item is added in the cart yet.”
This happens with Safari and Chrome, while I have no issues with Firefox (which is the one I normally use).
If you’d have possibility to test or have a look, this is link: https://www.fondazionecdlmilano.it/_prova-pdf/

And final question 😀 : what if I’d like to use the Master Key to directly download file after purchase? Would that work and how? And how should I set it up?
I know, more than 1 question…

Thank you very much for your help and support!

To just add: I’ve tried right few moments ago to purchase from a new incognito page on Firefox and had same cart issue, clicking ‘Add to cart’ took me to cart page with same warning/error message.

The payment method I am using is TestPay, which on Firefox -when it works- is showing me a few warnings about some deprecated functions.

Tested again right now and does not work in a more worse way either…
When I am redirected to guest orders page, none of the fields if pre-filled in and if I fill them in with data received on email, nothing happens at all.

I just noticed that now, but I was logged in to dashboard when I was testing, so looks like it was working -although wrongly anyhow- because I was logged in.
But at least on Firefox normal window seems I can add to cart, while on Chrome/Safari I cannot neither.

Hope your testings will be more lucky, if you’ll be testing.

Fresh update
I’ve cleaned everything on Chrome (cookies, cache, hostory…) and I was at least able to add PDf to cart and complete purchase, but still redirect to guest orders page does not work.
The fields were empty, so no PDF to download, and when filled them in with data from email received, nothing was listed.

Definitely there are some issues with this thing…

I have checked the product link. Could you share the temporary login credentials in a private reply to check the issue from your end?

Guest checkout is working correctly in our test environment.

After completing the payment, guest users are redirected to a page where they will see the Go To Guest Download Page button. When they click that button, they are taken to the Guest Download Page
From there, they can access and download their purchased files.

In addition, guest users receive an order confirmation email. You can include the Guest Download Page URL in that email so customers can easily access their downloads later.

Looks right what I did, just wasn’t working for me… which is weird
only difference I could see is that purchase was from PDF package page rather than _test one I’ve done, and not sure if with user logged on to WP dashboard.
I will test it either ways again and let you know

thank you

Hi Tahasin, I’ve retested and have good and less good news.

Good is that I now can add to cart from Safari and Chrome also, while couldn’t formerly.
The purchase and checkout processes go thought relatively smoothly and once paid I got redirected to guest orders page with proper details for email addr and order#, so could download file for/from proper user.
Before testing I have anyhow cleaned all cookies, cache, history for both browsers.

The less good news is that I’ve tried another purchase from same Safari browser, without clearing its cache nor cookies, using a different email address, but once redirected to guest orders page fields were pre-filled in with former user’s details.
And although I have replaced them with proper one from email received, I was amnyhow routed to former user. Also after clearing cache, cookies and so on.
Also tried another purchase from Chrome, clearing it, and once completed checkout I was redirected to guest orders page with same email and order# of the 1st I’ve placed on Safari!
Which is quite weird.
It might be edge case, but i’d expect to land on orders page with details of latest user I’ve used, not always the first one also from other browsers.

Moreover, I had left Chrome on guest orders page of first user I had tested there, but once I clicked to download PDF I got message ‘Invalid download link’…

Finally, on email received I still have link for login, but once on the page I do not have a link to guest orders page. I know I can edit and amend email, but just FYI.

So lights and shoadows over behavior of the feature, it works but seems not 100% as intended…

I will anyhow try to enable PayPal sandbox to test a “real” payment method and at least see how it would behave.

From the symptoms, my primary suspicion would be a caching issue.
Could you please try clearing your browser’s Local Storage and then test the issue again?
You can do this by opening your browser’s Developer Tools (press F12), navigating to the Console tab, and running the following command:
localStorage.clear();

Kindly enable both the Live and Sandbox PayPal payment methods. Once you’ve set up the PayPal methods, please let me know, and I will check the issue again.
