Topic: exe files converted to .htm
I’ve just tried the plugin, which works great, except when I add .exe files. When I click the link to download the exe file from firefox it downloads with .htm extension. I don’t know if this is an issue with my browser or with plugin. Tried several times, including loading from server folder. All gave the same result.
Any suggestions?
Topic: Ver 4 Shortcodes?
Just installed Ver 4 and created a page with several files on it. I don’t see how I can create a short code of the files to embed on another page. Any guidance would be helpful. I am trying to create a page similar to http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/all-downloads/
Topic: wpdm-all-downloads issues
Hi,
I noticed two problems with the pagination in 4.0 RC1 which you may have fixed already.
Line 69: the total should be wrapped in the ceil() function to catch every page.
Line 83: the . before paginate_links should be a comma.Looking forward to RC2.
Merry Christmas!
I deleted the free version, then purchased and installed the pro version. I downloaded and activated the importer tool. Under Downloads>Settings, I followed the instructions and all of my previous items are shown in the list with a “yes” under the “copied” list. But when I click on an item I get a message about not having permission to view the item.
When I view all packages, nothing is shown. And the shortcodes that are live on the site are showing no data. Help! My site is private, so message me if you need access to view it.
Thanks!
I’m currently working on a new corporate website for my company. We have a download section with lots and lots of files.
Since I’m not familiair with the Download Manager plugin and our download section is pretty complicated, I was wondering if anyone could look into our current site and tell me if it is possible to create such file- or category structure within Download Manager. I also need to be able to import or sync all the files.
So please check out our site and let me know if Download Manager will do the job?
Hope to hear from any of you. Thanks in advance!
Greetings,
Stefan LukHi- the Advanced Access Control page (http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/advanced-access-control/) says:
Use short-code [wpdm_my_downloads] to list all packges assigned to specific user – this short-code is useful when you want to create user specific download area or members area.
I’ve tried using this short code and the page always ends up saying “Sorry! No files shared for you.”. This is despite the fact that I can individually list files that are restricted by role for the user I’m logging in as. Can you help me to figure out why this short code won’t work?
Thanks,
ChadTopic: updated 4 beta
ran migration and lost all my downloads. shortcode to view package on post/page is not working anymore so I don’t know how to show the package. Please tell me how to show package on my post. In all packages view – can no longer see shortcode for package – if the package id worked, would have to display package to see it. Please add this back to all package view.
When creating package, it keeps adding “all visitors” can access it so I am unable to limit who can download package.
I went back to previous version. Too many things removed that made it easier to work with like keeping the packages as unique items and not treating them like a blog entry. I loved the option of the green bar to view and manage packages. The permissions to authorize access work.
I would like to add the template as seen under http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/all-downloads/ onto my site, but instead I get a strange “category index” alá WordPress.
Suggestions on how to proceed?
Oh, and I have the Premium version together with “WPDM – Archive Page” and “WPDM – Image Button” licensed & installed.
My site: http://dev.addq.se/download/
Site shows up with something completely different than intended:
http://dev.addq.se/downloads/I basically want WPDM to point towards my “/public_html/wp-content/uploads” directory.
Topic: Download files corrupted
I have been using the download manager for a few months (free version first and then pro for the last couple of months). Everything has worked fine apart from downloads not working for apple IOS7. Then today I have found all my managed files will not download correctly – they come with error messages saying a font is missing or images not available. I have loaded the same files to the website without the download manager and they are working and I can also access any of the files directly from my mac. I tried to re-upload both preview and adobe pdf files – on download the preview files the message was no file available — saying I was trying to download a text only file (even though a pdf had been uploaded) and the adobe file got a message saying file damaged and couldn’t open (but opens fine from the website or pc without the manager). I need a quick fix as there are over 100 documents available to my clients and non are currently downloadable so not great for my reputation. Help please.
Topic: Download Notifications
This plug in works quite well but I, and my client, are really disappointed at the lack of a viable solution for email notification of downloads. Other forum posts here “jokingly” suggest hiring a developer. Why would we need to do this when you are the developer? Spend additional funds to have what could be a baked in feature. At the very least provide another solution? Has anyone else found a way to do this?
Hi,
I have bought WordPress-Download-Manager-Special-Pack and have wpdm-custom-access-level installed.
I have created two Download categories. Cat1 and Cat2
I want to create a “group” for people to be able to access packages in either Category. I’m not sure of the best way to do this but what I have done is set up a “Download” WP page and added shortcode for two download categories. I then added the code “Please login to access downloads” to the Downloads page.
Then I created a Group called “Member1” and have assigned people to that Group. Then I set Packages in Cat1 to Allow Access: “Member1”
1. Is this concept correct? It seems a bit complicated?
2. When people click the “Please login to access downloads” on the Downloads page abd login, it then takes them to the WordPress Admin page, rather than a page to download the files. I don’t want them anywhere near the WP Admin page! 🙂
Any know why this occurs?
3. Finally, I have ticked “Show Only Login Button Instead of Login Required Message” but the login button doesn’t appear anywhere?
Thanks.
Ken
