i have the same problem as many users before. i used the free version and everything worked fine. Then i wanted to make packages with multiple files. So paid for WPDM PRO. now i have this problem with the data pages. I want my download links only to appear on password protected sites (because of copy right reasons). Now with WPDM Pro my downloads aren’t protected anymore, because of those data pages. This is a huge problem for me.
I read your explantions (integrated templates) many times and tried nearly all of those templates. But still i don’t know how to get rid of those data pages. Please help me! I tried my best! Can you explain exactly how i can create a download link without the data page, please?
yes, the links show fine on that page, but when i tweet to download i get a 404 and nothing is downloaded. did you test the actual download?
package & download category slugs are set to default in wpdm settings (download & downloads). i am not using ‘download’ or ‘downloads’ as slugs anywhere else in wordpress.
no matter what page the downloads are shown on, tweet/like/+1 to download does not work – takes me to 404 and nothing is downloaded.
I’m confused. I created a custom link template. When I go to Downloads > Templates, I see my custom link template and the template ID listed for my custom link template is: 52f2603ba5898. This is the same template ID I’m using in my shortcode.
I’m sorry to keep asking for clarification, but this is really confusing…
@babby, support team tested, it was showing ok here http://bluskreen.com/all-packages/ , but you were facing error, because probably you were using same base url slug for that page as package or download category url slug. in which url you were facing problem?
still have not heard back from support via email. please help – i’m still having the same problem. when i click to tweet for download, nothing is downloaded & i get a 404. site has been down for days now – got to get this fixed asap. thanks again!!!
Thanks, Shaon. I’ve created the link template with your above code and called it ‘File List’. It has the ID of 52f0b563f3d46.
Next I went into the package and changed the link template to ‘File List’. The problem is when I update the page/package, the link template reverts back to ‘with MP3 preview’. I can switch to any of the other templates, but not ‘File List’ that I created.
I checked on the page where I want the file list to appear and it just displays ’52f0b563f3d46′.
Any ideas where I’m going wrong? I’m using v4.0.3 of the plugin.

The only way I could get it working was to create a new link template in \plugins\download-manager\templates. But I’m guessing this will disappear with each update?
Seems like this has occurred since the upgrade on my free version and something to do with the plugin “Better WP Security” – I have deactivated the security plugin and the downloads are now working. Any help on making these two work together as they did before would be appreciated.

I am having the same issue – on both paid for and free version. Seems to work fine if a user is logged in but gives 404 error for users not logged in….PLEASE HELP

I am still having trouble with custom templates.
The ones I create will not work at all now.
and if I pick them and do an update on the download package it defaults back to the “With MP3 Preview”
I even tried to Delete them an add them back in and still the same problem.

I deleted the older version 4.0 and there’s no other download manager plugin installed. I tried to install 4.01 and it failed. Next I tried uploading the 4.01 folder via ftp. It appears in the plugin list, but it will NOT activate. At this point I have no downloads – nothing. Need help.

I deactivated the updated plugins but it made no difference. Then I was reading the support forums and saw a post about conflicts with NextGen Gallery so I deactivated that plugin and the downloads are working again!! That plugin has caused so many problems for us, I’m just getting rid of it altogether now.
The icons still are not showing though. Any tips on why? I’m using a custom template that looks like so:

Hi,
Today I was uploading new files to our site and noticed that the icons aren’t showing anymore. When I tested a download it says the file cannot be opened because it has been corrupted (for both PDF and Excel file types). This was working for us fine when I made uploads about a week ago. For some reason now it stopped working.
Does this have anything to do with the auto update that WordPress ran recently? That’s the only thing I can think of that’s changed really…other than a couple of plugins that were updated today (WordPress SEO, Google Analytics for WordPress, and Display Widgets).

I went to my downloads section and downloaded the 4.0.0. When installing the plugin it still shows up as RC2. Can you please send me a link to the new version?
I am suppose to launch a website tomorrow and needed a robust plugin to manage downloads. After using the the Free version of WP Downloads Manager I was happy with the plugin. I purchased the pro plugin because of the things it claimed to do.
It is a much worse experience than the free plugin. I can not find a single template that will properly display my download link.
I have had to use multiple plugins to achieve similar functionality to the free plugin, such as the Tiny MCE Button plugin, which even after install is not half as robust as the free version. Without this I will have to go into each package and change the template without the advantage of using the shortcode in my product admin page.
I am very unhappy. I have spent valuable hours and $45 on a plugin that is not ready for market. I am very unhappy with this plugin.
The only advantage I have seen is the ability to download multiple downloads. Now that they are downloaded I can’t make a format work to display them properly. I am very frustrated. In all the years I’ve been working with WordPress I’ve never been this unhappy with a plugin experience.
