I tried migrating from 3.3.8 to version 4 and had to roll back to previous version since my downloads stopped working. I was able to migrate all packages. However, the categories did not migrate and the ‘password lock’ option for each package was no longer enabled. When I enable the password lock for a package the correct password still appears. I had to go in and enable the password lock for all packages. I only have 12 packages so this is not too big of a problem for me, but I imagine for sites with hundreds of packages this could be an issue.
On the front end, my downloads have stopped working. When entering the password for a file, it submits but returns the error message ‘Wrong password’ in the pop-up. This same behavior happens with Bootstrap JS/CSS enabled and disabled.
Before the update to 4.0 all of my downloads worked correctly with Bootstrap disabled. Is there a known bug in the ‘lock options’?
Also, the wpdm Amazon S3 extension does not work with wpdm 4.0. Do you plan on updating this plugin? If so, when?
Right now without a working password-lock option and Amazon S3 plug-in I can’t update to wpdm 4.0.
How can I update my downloads page to look like http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/all-downloads/?
Is this an add-on? I tried going through the settings in the back-end and could not find a way to update this.
The 4.0 rc2 shows up in my downloads but It serves the 3.3.3 version on all available links?
http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/ seems broken and is using a version 4?!?
http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/all-downloads/ for instance doesn’t show a search box. Is version 4 available for download?
1. Shortcodes for the Pro version aren’t displaying. When I put in a shortcode to display all packages in a category, the page goes blank or I am given a message that I don’t have access to that category. Existing shortcodes from the free version don’t work. See attached screen shot.
2. The categories list on the back end does not look like it does in the DM Pro documentation. There are no shortcodes shown, no option to control access, etc. See attached screen shot.
3. I need a widget that will display the most popular downloads. I thought that by upgrading to Pro I would be able to get that widget, but I didn’t see it. Does that widget exist? How can I get it activated on my site?
For one one of the documents on my website I require both a password and an email subscription. With the email subscription in 3.8.8 I was able to ask for the name, company, and email address. I upgraded to 4.0.0RC2 because in 3.8.8 challenging for a download stopped working altogether.
I have Link Template set to : Call to Action 1
I have Page Template set to: Single Column, Flat
Problem 1 – Under the lock option tabs under package settings, selected “enable password lock” type in password. Update Page, view – There is a download button on the page which works when you type in the correct password. There is also a download link on the page (P1A – there should be one of these not both) which when you click on it asks for a password, typing in the correct password gives you an error message (P1B). If you then go to custom fields and select the “password_lock” custom field it works. I would like to see the link disappear from the page and have only the button I defined.
Problem 2 – Next I turned off password lock in the page options and deleted it from the Customer Fields. Enabled email lock which comes up with a message “Will ask for email (and checked customer data) before download. However, unlike 3.8.8, there is no way to add custom data. There is nothing more than this message (Problem 2A).
Now, preview the page and I still have the button for download which is asking for a password. However, this should be gone now since it was deselected (P2B).
The download link (not a button, just text) does ask you to subscribe for download and does work. However, I would expect the call to action now to be “subscribe” with a button and a place to enter email address. P2C
Problem 3 – Next it gets real fun. Enable both Password Lock and Email Lock only in Package Settings. I of course still have my password field with the download button. Entering the password and clicking on the download button results in an immediate download instead of also asking for an email address and email the link to the download (P3A).
Clicking on the “download link” brings up a dialog box to enter a password and has a submit button as well as e field to enter an email and a subscribe button. There should be two requests and one button (P3B).
Entering in the password results in a “wrong password” error message until you then also create a Custom Field with the password in it. (P3C – must only create this password in one place).
Once the custom field is in place typing in the password results in a file being downloaded called “invalid-link.txt”. This will cause phone calls and emails from people trying to get to the file. (P3D).
It also results in a new download button coming up that only downloads the error message (P3E).
If you then do enter your email address a link will be sent with the proper download link.
Bottom line on Problem 3 is when both Password lock and email lock are enabled you should be asked for all the criteria directly on the page and then have a subscribe/submit button. Also that link on the page shouldn’t be there…there should only be the buttons.
Just installed Ver 4 and created a page with several files on it. I don’t see how I can create a short code of the files to embed on another page. Any guidance would be helpful. I am trying to create a page similar to http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/all-downloads/
Hi,
I noticed two problems with the pagination in 4.0 RC1 which you may have fixed already.
Line 69: the total should be wrapped in the ceil() function to catch every page.
Line 83: the . before paginate_links should be a comma.
Looking forward to RC2.
Merry Christmas!
I deleted the free version, then purchased and installed the pro version. I downloaded and activated the importer tool. Under Downloads>Settings, I followed the instructions and all of my previous items are shown in the list with a “yes” under the “copied” list. But when I click on an item I get a message about not having permission to view the item.
When I view all packages, nothing is shown. And the shortcodes that are live on the site are showing no data. Help! My site is private, so message me if you need access to view it.
Thanks!
Hi- the Advanced Access Control page (http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/advanced-access-control/) says:
Use short-code [wpdm_my_downloads] to list all packges assigned to specific user – this short-code is useful when you want to create user specific download area or members area.
I’ve tried using this short code and the page always ends up saying “Sorry! No files shared for you.”. This is despite the fact that I can individually list files that are restricted by role for the user I’m logging in as. Can you help me to figure out why this short code won’t work?
Thanks,
Chad
