Wow….! So, I took your advice @Shaon and contacted Live Support. Firstly they pointed me to the add-ons which provide the TinyMCE icon and the import of the downloads from the free version. Excellent – though may be a good idea to alert people they will need these, especially as they are free.

Then the issue I had with templates was resolved after I gave Live Support admin access and FTP access whereupon it was discovered the plugin had not been fully installed somehow and some files were missing. They were added and the Pro version now works…!

I had initially asked for my money back….but now I’ll be promoting the plug in instead because of the excellent support.

    Thanks.

Me too…! When you have a site that has hundreds of downloads with the free version, the last thing you want is the Pro version to ignore them meaning you have to install them all again…!

Plus the TinyMCE button disappearing is just plain daft.

Plus the templates do not work – no matter which template I choose it only ever shows the default on the front end.

Happy…? Not…! I’m switching back to the free version – it is SO MUCH BETTER…!

    Hi there,

I’m moving my site onto a different server – same domain. At the moment, it’s reachable via IP address and we’re testing the site using the hosts file on individual PC’s. However, the downloads and archive page don’t seem to be working – I’m assuming that it’s a licensing thing as it’s not technically on the same domain any more; is this the case?

However, I can’t switch the domains over until the client has seen the site working. Given this, is it possible to add a temporary licence for a week pointed at an IP address?

    Thanks,
    Angela

Hello I am facing a problem with Daily Downloads. Everything seems to work great but the only problem is that the maximum number of downloads per day doesnt function and everybody gets the daily-download-limit.txt file.
Is there a way to fix this and give my members to download the minimum of files everyday? The maximum files allowed for download are 2 and it doesnt work.
    Please help me.

    Hi,
I just purchased this after being impressed by the free version but now having so many problems with PRO version. I’ve uploaded the file and everything but when I want to download it downloads a file called ‘fie not found.txt’.

Had such high hopes for this plugin but really disappointed now.

    Hello Shaon,

Please help me I still can not fix the issues with the downloads manager This is the page I want people to download the files : http://www.sfml.nl/download/

via http://www.sfml.nl/aanmeldingsformulier/ I want people/members to login to my site (you can try with > admin, SFML2010) . When they do another menu appears (incl menu item “Downloads” > http://www.sfml.nl/download/) I added some downloads but when I click on them I get redirected to the homepage instead of downloading the files. It’s really making me crazy. Please can you help me to fix this issues with the plugin.

    If I set:
Allow only ‘Editor’ and upper level users to administrate this plugin
    Multi-User ‘Disabled’
then Downloads does not appear for Editors.

    If I set:
Allow only ‘Editor’ and upper level users to administrate this plugin
    Multi-User ‘Enabled’
then Downloads does appear for Editors but they can’t see packages that an Administrator has added.

Is there a way to let Editors manage packages that administrators have added?

Hey guys, need some help with a few basics.
When viewing the site, and I click on the title of a download package it takes me to the next page showing version size, downloads, size, created date.etc… well how do I add the main picture on that page? Also can I actually turn this page off as well? These seem like simple things but I cannot find solutions anywhere….

@jeannelking, no need of ftp any more:

    1. Delete free version
    2. then follow the steps here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/docs/installing-wordpress-download-manager-pro/
    3. Now if you need to import files from free to pro, Download and install copy to pro add-on from here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/copy-to-pro/
    4. Go to wp-admin Downloads Settings Copy to premium tab, and you will see the list of files you create with free version, check all copy
    5. and done!

I’ve created a page on my site which contains the shortcode [wpdm_category id=ict item_per_page=10] where ‘ict’ is the category name. It returns all the downloads with that category. The download links under each name work, but when I click on the actual file name it returns an empty page, rather than a details page showing the large thumb, download description, etc. What am I doing wrong? I’m really confused! ๐Ÿ™

The url in the address page shows ‘?download=space-shuttle-poster’ after my domain name (space shuttle poster is a test PDF download file).

What a nightmare. I deleted the free version… installed Pro. No problem. Ran the copy to premium add on. Great. But now working in Pro I had to manually change [wpdm file id=1] to [wpdm package id=1]. Now it won’t display the nice little download icon on the page, it displays the file name in big green letters and it shows the file size and how many downloads it has, with no option to change that. Then when you click on it to download… it doesn’t download it, it displays a buggered up page full of stats.

I only bought this plug in so I could track where my downloads are coming from… looking to go back to the free version.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi ,
Am I missing the whole point of this pro version?
I purchased The pro Download manager version with the intention of making the process of uploading and downloading files easier. I was using the free version where I had a catagory with numerous downloads associated with that category – It used just one piece of short code in the HTML. As long as I categorised the files they would all be brought into the post where the sort code was featured . – Nice and simple!! The only drawback being that each file had to be uploaded and categorised individually – a mamoth task when you have 1000’s of products.
Hence I bought the pro version thinking it would resolve the need to individually upload files but that they could be done in batches – Simple!!

Working with the pro version I can’t seem to batch process numerous files into a category (therefore requiring 1 piece of short code)
It appears that I can’t download single files within the package. – The manager allows multiple file uploads but they can only be downloaded as a complete zip and not individually (not what I wanted).
It appears the only solution is to create individual packages for each file. Thus requiring a piece of short code for each file (more complex) Categorizing therefore seems to be redundant as this no longer controls the file?

I realise that I can import multiple files as separate packages from a directory, But I have to insert each short codes into the HTML to bring in the files when with the Free version 1 short code did the trick?

Also Do I have any control of the template that displays the before they are uploaded. It appears they are always brought in to a default style? Ideally I would like to set the style before they are uploaded, and then not have to manually open up each package and change the template.
Hope you can help me with these

    Hi
For the website ((www.psiseating.co.uk/test) which has the with the Downloadmanager pro I’ve logged onto the FTP control panel and located the downloads folder.
The main folder has permission 755
Inside, the folder there is no .htaccess file if this is a problem?

On my other website which i am having problems downloading any of the downloadable files (using your free version) test.mukl.com
There is a downloads file with permission 755 in the FTP control panel
Inside the folder there is .htaccess file.
When you view the .htaccess file it says
    text/x-generic .htaccess
    ASCII text

    RewriteEngine On

    Deny from all

Is this one of the issues?

That should really be listed somewhere when initially purchasing the product as I am pretty sure the support pages show a directory page.. makes it seem like it comes with that functionality… hate finding out I need to pay for things I thought I was getting after the fact….

Is this page: http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/ – using that plugin?

Hi. I want to prevent people unauthorized people from being able to download my packages. I have an online store. When someone purchases, I have my shopping cart send them the package page with the password, and I have their download limit set to 1. This much is working fine. (I love the IP check feature.)

The problem, however, is that the person now has the password and the page url, which they can simply email to other people, allowing unauthorized people to download the product. How can I prevent this?

I tried playing around with the multiple-passwords and setting the password usage limit to 1, but the problem with this is that I cannot get my shopping cart to email out unique passwords. There’s a single email that the shopping cart sends out to every customer. So I can only use one password.

Is there an add-on that will allow me to do what I want? It seems like this plugin is not capable of providing full protection without forcing people to login to WordPress, and I do not want to force my customers to have to do that, because I will lose sales.

    Thanks!

you will need the following add-on for that:

    WPDM Directory Add-on

Am I missing something? Is there not supposed to be a single download page listing all categories and files in those categories where you can search for items etc in the Pro Version?

    Hi
I have just purchased a copy of the pro version and uploaded it as a plug in and entered the licence key as instructed. However when I come to start uploading files nothing seems to work.
All the items are there on the screen in the downloads screen but nothing happens when I press the select files button (Upload files from PC ) or select Icon button.
However, it does allow me to create a package title. i.e. if I enter in a product name and press create a package it does create a package entity – but just with nothing in it
    Help urgently needed

    1) Download links were not appearing at all as selected page template didn’t have [download_link] tag, i changed it and showing ok now.
    2) Create new link template using following code:

    <div class="media">
        <div class="media-body">
        <h4 class="media-heading" style="padding-top: 0px;border:0px;margin: 0px;">[title]</h4>
        [download_link] <i style="margin: 2px 0 0 5px;opacity:0.5" class="icon icon-th-large"></i> [file_size] <i style="margin: 2px 0 0 5px;opacity:0.5" class="icon icon-download-alt"></i> [download_count] downloads
        </div>
    </div>

select the template from edit package window.

I have sent you an e-mail to support@

As for my other post I am still getting a problem if I activate Calendarize It, The Other Plugins have been replaced with ones that seem to not be affected as to where Downloads sits on the Dashboard, but if you activate Calendarize It you will see that it will not appear, until Download Manager Pro is deactivated…

But more importantly I would like to know why:

    1. The Download Links do not appear at all.
    2. Why does it take me to a second page, which I do not want, I just want someone to select the link that they want and then be able to download it without this second page appearing!
