Topic: Open PDF instead of Download
I have a PDF file designated to a specific user using Download Manager Pro and Custom Access Level.
On my website, when someone clicks a link to a PDF, it typically opens up as a new web page. However, when they click a link to the protected PDF, it downloads instead of open.
Is it possible to change this behavior?
Thanks
Hi guys,
I notice that all the downloads subscribe to the same mailchimp list.
Is there anyway to send the package name or ID to mailchimp (perhaps as a seperate field)?
This would allow me to setup email automation based on what was downloaded.
(Instead of generic automation rules, which it gets limited to without any package information).
Cheers,
Kameel
Dear Shaon,
Problem Description: I use WPML and have two languages, for which I have some downloads in both languages. First of all: The WPML integration works really great. I use the shortcode <span style=”line-height: 1.5;”>[download_link_extended] inside my page-template and I use only email-locked-downloads. </span>The shortcode <span style=”line-height: 1.5;”>[download_link_extended] displays english text content, which is hard coded in wpdm-functions.php, i.e. on lines 845, 850, 873, 891, 1526.</span>
Question:
- Do you have a quick-fix / workaround I might use, to display located text content for email-locked-downloads, depending on the language of the download?
- If not, might it be possible to implement this as a feature with an update?
Kind regards!
I saw that the old version 4.1.3 had the ability to have a thumbnail generated from a PDF in the link template using [pdf_thumb_WxH]
http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/wordpress-download-manager-pro-v4-1-3-released
This feature does not appear in my current version 4.3.0. I need this as all of my downloads are PDF’s. How can we use this feature?
I am currently inserting a JPG in the body area as a thumbnail, but also need it in the link template – can we link to this?
Thanks
None of my PDFs are being delivered! Here is an example as to what bounces back to me:

</tbody></table>Hi,
Just recently I had an interesting error with publishing packages.
It would let me create the post, and attach the package… but when I clicked publish it re-directs to the /wp-admin/post.php page instead of publishing.
Then it adds the post to the downloads list but when you clicked Download it downloads a text file called download-not-available.txt
It did that when the post and file name was:
Rodney Grove Centre Timetable 21st September – 3rd October 2015… but when i changed the post and file name to:
Rodney Grove Timetable 21st Sep – 3rd Oct 2015… it worked just fine. Is there a new character limit on post and file names?
In the past I have successfully published a file with the name:
Rodney Grove Community Aquatic Centre time table. 13th July – 18th September 2015
… which is much longer. It’s a head scratcher for sure, any light you can shed on this would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance,
RylieWe’ve been using WPDM for over a year and have loved the plugin. We’ve had no problems with it until yesterday when my client called me and said that the individual PDF files were now downloading as txt files. The package files are fine…this just happens with the PDFs.
I have verified it and would like to know if there is a fix? Using the latest version of WP and WPDM 3.8.
TIA
KevinI’ve implemented the WP Downloads Manager Pro on http://we-are-awesome.com/stilo-magolide-more/
This works fine on all browsers except Firefox. I am unable to download the file when I click on “Download this track”
Could you advise how we can fix this?
Topic: Access Denied
Hi,
I bought the pro version of download manager and I try one problem with the users access to downloads. I allow access to download files for admin ands subscribers in a single file and settings but this roles can’t view the link because haven’t access ( they can read ‘Access Denied’ in the button ). I don’t know what is the problem because Administrator for example have all the capabilities and can’t access to download. In sinlge edit I can’t add users to allow access line. I need help with this, thanks 🙂

Topic: Site Layout crashed
Hi,
I use Avada 3.8.6, WPDM 4.3.0
In my download section
http://www.plays-in-business.com/downloads/#giveaways
I added the shortcodes for all downloads manually:
[wpdm_package id='3767']
[wpdm_package id='5163']
[wpdm_package id='6527']
[wpdm_package id='6646']
[wpdm_package id='6651']
[wpdm_package id='6667']
Starting with the fourth item, each download displayed is “shifted” to the left. The happens regardless from the packgage listet. I tested this with placing 6 times the same package id in a test installation:
http://www.plays-in-business.com/test-downloads/
Any ideas?
Thank you
Hi,
I my files download count is massively higher than my posts visits.
I sue “post views counter” for post views count:
https://www.dfactory.eu/products/post-views-counter/?utm_source=post-views-counter-settings&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=blog-aboutand use Jetpack/wordpress stats, as well as google analytics and WP Statistics
http://www.maxmind.com/All stats and post views plugins give roughly the same range of visitors, however the download count is massively high, even on very new files.
fox example, this post was published yesterday only,
http://coptic-treasures.com/wp/cac-001/
the number of post visits is 386, but the number of downloads is 2065 (cached page), and 637 visits and 3586 downloads on live page (as i am using WP Super cache).
yesterday i got around 800 visits all up for the wole website. it is not logic that i got 3586 downloads, knowing that my package page is not accessible, so people can’t acces it directly.
Also, i have WordFence and Vaultpress for security, and there are not hacking or DDoS attacks.
ِAnother example:
a post visited 462 times but the file downloaded 3997 times:
http://wp.me/p6dzea-5AWThe most severe example is a post visited only 17 times, but the file in it was downloaded 3047 times !!
I understand that different plugins will give different results, but WPDM seems way out, unbelievably larger.
I raised this problem before, and you advised that you added commands against bots. but even bots can’t be that high that it detects a new post and visit it 3586 times in 25 hours.
Also, i have other packages that are not downloaded at all, which means that bots don’t attack regularly.
Please help.
Cheers,
AtefIs there a shortcode to list all my offered downloads on a page?
Currently, I add manually the shortcode for a new package on the download section my site.
I would love to have a shortcode which is placed only one time and I do not have to touch my download section again. Then, when I add new downloads in the WPDM dashboard, my download section shows all the downloads inclusive the new one.Hi guys,
we have bought the pro version of WPDM and we have some trouble.
We cannot hide complete categories or groups of downloads depending on the user that is logged in.If we try to hide categories depending on the user group they will still be shown in the frontend even if we login with a user that is not allowed to see this category.
Can anyone you help us out?
Wen need this to finish our project.Kind regards,
Jan HenningHi,
I had an unrealistic large downloads spike yesterday and my hosting company suspended my website because of CPU overusage.
I run foodiesfeed.com and provide there food pictures free to download to anyone. Usually I got around 2 or 3k downloads a day.
However, yesterday and during todays night I had got 100k downloads together even though the traffic was usual which is 950 unique visitors.
Can you please help me to find out what may cause such huge downloads spike? The Siteground customer service told me to disable the plugin logging IP adresses into database. Is that possible?
Also, is it possible to block other people downloading from my website then those who are currently browsing it? So pirates can’t right click the download link, copy it and provide it somewher else other than on my website.
I’m quite misserable.
Kind regards,
Jakub
