It used to work without having to enter the title manually.
I’m having this exact problem – not isolated to original poster.
So… no?
But I don’t want to load it by shortcode… I thought that was pretty clear. Is there no way to force the category pages to load in the correct order?
Still not working.
Example:
1628273985wpdm_Absentee.pdf Title should be Absentee.pdf, as shown in the backend.
1628273985wpdm_Absentee.pdf is the full file name (what the system renamed it so it wasn’t a duplicate).
???
I could still use help…
No, the problem is not resolved. See screenshot in my last reply.
I AM getting that. What I’m saying is that, since a number of the files have the same names as other files, they are being renamed (which is obviously a good thing and is working now), and showing the renamed file name on the frontend.
E.g. in this package – https://warrencountymoclerk.com/download/march-10-2020-election-results/ – the filename as uploaded is Absentee.pdf. It is being renamed, as other packages also have Absentee.pdf files, to 1627407970wpdm_Absentee.pdf. This is fine, but the frontend of the site is showing 1627407970wpdm_Absentee.pdf, even when I change the name on the backend. I want the name I’m changing to to be what shows on the frontend, since this is the case. It was before we started messing with things, and I’m not sure how to get it back to that.
Can you help again? I had to reupload the files as everything was overwritten – the file names are now unique, but the frontend is showing the filename and not the name I changed them to, example – https://warrencountymoclerk.com/download/march-10-2020-election-results/
I need them back to showing the name I change them to since the overwriting was an issue (explained more in my other post – https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/support/topic/urgent-files-with-same-names-just-overwriting/ ).
I’m not sure what was changed to make them show the file name and not what I edit the names to.
I’m going to recommend that to my client who is uploading the files to the site. I was hoping there was a way to make it easier in case they did not do that. Thank you anyway.
They’re still showing the file names and not the names I gave them. E.g. Absentee.pdf I named 21 Absentee (in the backend) so that it would show as the 21st file in the list.
Right now, most packages include files uploaded labeled with numbers. They upload in reverse numerical order, e.g. 05, 04, 03, 02, 01, instead of 01, 02, 03, 04, 05. I’m hoping to force them to load on the frontend numerically rather than reverse, without the client having to drag them into order.
That may have solved the issue. She’s able to upload now… she says she thinks it was her browser, but it started working after I took the steps you mentioned. Thanks for the help!
It should go
01
02
03
04
05
etc.
I just don’t want my clients to have to drag them around manually, as I’m trying to make it as easy as possible for them. It doesn’t matter how it looks on the backend, as long as it’s in that order on the frontend.
I already manually reordered some of the packages on that site. One that I didn’t is – April 6, 2021 Election Results
Checking in – are you able to access the site now?
Sorry about that. I think my boss has Cloudflare set to block non-local traffic since it’s a local site that was having issues with high bot traffic in the past. I had him pause it so you SHOULD be able to access now.
Thank you for the fast response! It does work, in a sense. It changes the visible file names back to the actual file name, rather than what I updated them to in the package, and orders them based on that. Example: I have one package with 22 files. One file is named “Absentee.pdf”. When I uploaded it to the package, I changed the name that shows on the frontend to “21 Absentee,” since I want it to be the 21st file in the list. With this function, the file is showing as “Absentee.pdf” and is the 1st file in the list.
