I just wanted to share a bit of playing that I did with the email lock. I set the download limit to 1. Believe it or not it actually limited the number of times the email link could be downloaded to 1 time. I set the limit to 2 and was able to download from my email link just 2 times. I like this and just wanted to share my discovery. =)

But then can’t they just keep downloading the file over and over again?

Under the package setting I have the Allow Individual Download selected

And then under the Lock Option for Enable Email Lock I have the Download Instantly selected

What this has done is give them an instant download to save and then a backup sent to them. Done this way the backup email has only allowed them to get it one time.

When I just removed the limit and and then changed the email to Mail Download Link I am able to continually download, get an email that can then give me 2 or 3 downloads per email.

I sure would like to know if there is a way to have the link sent to them that they can download 1 time and be done. Do you have any sort of tutorials that explain the different locks?

I’m playing around with different settings right now.

I get that. And I accept that. I don’t have any problems downloading either. Did you see all the instructions that I put on the download pages try to get people to understand? Geez, it’s a book I tell you! Anyway, is there anything I can add to those instructions that can be helpful to the clients? I honestly don’t know how to tell them to register or to log in. umm. I have tried to download and am told that it is an ‘Unconfirmed 470503.crdownload’ I took a screen shot of what came up when I downloaded.

It’s been fixed. I wouldn’t have been able to give you anything because I couldn’t get in.
I need to know something else now…
We had gotten it set up that people had to register before paying. With the switch over it’s not doing that. What do I need to change to get it back?

Something I think worked was I limited downloads to 1. When I went in to check my ‘practice’ I was allowed to download one time…the next time I got the download limit exceeded message.

Oh my gosh! Is there anyway to change that to one download? Unlimited at only $1 is just ridiculous. Also I have had 2 people write me to tell me they have not gotten their downloads…I don’t know what to tell them.

Ok, so that part is working. Where do I find that part about user sign up? Also, the cart still cannot be updated. For me, it shows 3 in my cart.

And the weird continues. When registering and then clicking continue; this is what comes up. This is really getting ridiculous.

Got it. Thank you so much, Shaon. Seems to be just one more thing’bug’…the shopping cart cannot be updated. In messing around I added 2 of the same pattern to my cart. When I try to lower it to 1 it won’t do it.
Also, with the free downloads I have instructions that I strongly suggest people to read before downloading. http://fromgrammysheart.com/patterns/unforgettably-lovely-cowl/
Are those instructions neccessary for paid patterns as well?

Ok. I just got emails, a copy of your order and another saying you ‘purchased’ something. Are people going to have to register to get their download? I am trying to avoid all drama (if you know what I mean) I don’t mind if they would have to register or sign up beforehand. It’s the afterwards part that will have them screaming! =)

So, I have it set for guest user or whatever. I was wanting to avoid the drama. just order, pay and download begin as you were saying it would. While I was logged into the admin area, no problems. after logging out and trying to pay, I do not get lead back to getting my download. I get a login page. When i log in, this is what I get.

Also the cart cannot be updated.

This is so uncool! I do not want buyers to have to get an email telling them that they have to create an account to receive their download. What is going on!? If I put this live I will have people screaming for their money back!

Another question has come up. How would I offer this at a 100% discount? I put in a code, told it 100%. When doing that and then clicking update it says the cart is empty and won’t go to PayPal
