Well yet again, it uninstalled my previous version and did not upgrade it to 4.6.8.
Again, I had to download it manually, install it manually, and Enable it in the plugins again.
Same thing happened with the Premium Packages update… that too uninstalled and not upgraded.
The only thing that worked was the extended shortcodes update.
Just to let you know, I updated to v4.6.7 today using YOUR orange button to update under settings.
It Uninstalled completely your add-on and did not update it at all.
I had to re-download it and install it by hand!
I have never ever had any luck with your settings–>updates to update the plugin. Never Ever.
For the love that is all and holy, please let WordPress Plugin manager be the sole updater and not your way of updating them.
Perfect, now it is behaving correctly now.
Thank you!!
So I just paid another $89 so I could download the 4.6.5 version and I still do not see the ability to keep the filename extension there, when you said it was going to be part of 4.6.3.
Example………
I have already in the downloads, a file called:
Filename.zip
I upload a new version called: Filename.zip
The plugin should Overwrite the Filename.zip with the new Filename.zip, and keep the same filename of the file called Filename.zip
Why is this so complex?
NEED HELP PLEASE
I just now tried uploaded a new version using the most current version of WPD and it did NOT keep the filename.ext
Any news on at least having this option for people who NEED the filename as the name please??
Will this be fixed next update so this does not have to be done manually?
I am still needing this option so I can upload File_Name_0001.zip as the actual name it sees. I do not want the file name to become “File Name 0001”.
This is a royal pain updating this.
I keep getting a message saying to update but it brings me to a place where I cannot update??
I clicked on the 1st thing for 4.6.1 and even though it installed, it didnt tell the system that it was updated.
I even went to the free addon to update the shortcodes and it says NA, even when I have it install, I still get the message there is an update.
Why do I need to do everything like this manual when it obviously is supposed to work automatically by clicking an update?
PS – I went do manually download the shortcodes addon and it says 2.7.0, not 2.7.1
Perfect thank you ๐
I searched and found under Settings–>Discussion–>Other comment settings
Comments should be displayed with the [DROPDOWN OPTION] comments at the top of each page.
This is still an open ticket….and seriously a pet peeve now of your program.
I need to be able to upload the file and RETAIN the filename with the extension.
ie: just make a setting to allow filenames with extensions or not.
I need to be able to upload the file and OVERWRITE the old file that was there.
ie: just make a setting to allow files to be overwritten if the same filename exists.
PLEASE make my life simpler using your plugin with these 2 minor changes.
Great thank you!
Looking forward to your next update to have the “Last Updated” date on the file management sort.
That makes more sense, thanks for checking.
So, I removed the file_list short-code from the template and I will just add the filename within the description if need be. In doing so, I probably do not need to rename the way it shows the renamed file name anymore since it won’t be showing.
Thanks for the help!
I made my own Widget based off of yours and it works. It was not that difficult.
So I made a new file, uploaded a file and saved. Uploaded another file without deleting the old one, and reluctantly, I selected Single File Download (Disabled) since it isn’t being carried over from the main settings, and saved. It shows both file names on the package info page without the Download button, assuming that is what it is supposed to do.
So if Single File Download is disabled, it is ONLY disabling the Download Button that would appear and not the name along with it, why is it that when I select Global, that the Download button appears? Settings are set to disabled from the main plugin. See screenshot.
If you have the settings set to single file download disabled, there is no reason that I can think of that it should even show any filenames other than the latest file uploaded.
That is what I did, so if I set the single file to be disabled “globally”, then why is it showing like it is enabled?
Hm, setting default values doesn’t seem like it would warrant a separate plugin, or at least include it in the WordPress-Download-Manager-Special-Pack.
So I set the single file thing to be disabled in options. (single-file-disabled-options)
I create a new package (new-package)
I update the package a 2nd time.
It shows the multiple file things (using-global-settings) still, just without the Download button.
So the global setting isnt playing nice.
Ah ok thank you very much. Just that update will allow my users to know which file has been updated easier than fumbling threw them.
Ok, hopefully it won’t to too far in the future ๐ Thanks for the response
Sorry, I am not following you. ๐
I already have [update_date]
in the code of the template used for the widget but no option to sort that widget by that Update date.
I looked at the PHP and maybe something needs to be changed for “orderby” .
Ok, all taken care of. The people over at Theme.co for the X-Theme posted some code to patch the functions.php file that carried over the custom taxonomy. Works flawlessly now for this ๐

Looks like I am back to this issue once more.
I am now in the process of uploading updates to the ZIP files I have.
I have the setting set to Overwrite if file exists.
I upload the file (ie: default_old.zip) and I get another Attached Files “box” and the system called it “Default Old”.
I do not want to have to keep renaming this darn field each and every time I need to post an update.
Secondly, I don’t want it get another Attached Files “box”, just simply overwrite what I have and Publish.
Thirdly, I have settings set to Disable Single File Download yet every time I make a Download file, I have to keep setting it to Disabled in the actual file information.
Yoast is now aggravating me and had to deactivate it.
Although it does technically allow usage of custom taxonomies by using its own method of a navigation (by adding one….), it is not going to fix my initial issue of enabling the categories for WPDM. Even if I was to somehow use Yoast, I will still have a missing section between the Date and Comment underneath the Download filename.
Really don’t know what to do here.
Is there a simple plugin that would allow these custom taxonomies to appear correctly? Or make normal post categories in WordPress and use that instead of these custom ones?
In absolute worst case scenario, I need to remove the extra “/ ” so that there isn’t an obvious category missing in the navigation info.
Thanks
