Can someone please let me know if this is a BUG or if I need to hire out a third-party to investigate why my wp-content/uploads/wpdm-cache/pdfthumbs directory keeps clearing itself out each day? I do not have the Privacy/Auto Clean selected. I do not have any hosting side tasks set up to clear this directory.
Because this directory keeps clearing itself out, the first user to a really long page of downloads gets a timeout error because it takes a long time to generate all of those thumbnails. I really need this cached!
Why would I check this option? It is already clearing the cache each day. I want it to STOP clearing the cache.
I have been checking my pdfthumbs cache folder each day and it is DEFINITELY clearing itself each day. How do I make this stop?
I see you were able to log in to our admin. Any updates on this issue? I checked our pdfthumbs cache today and can see that it is definitely being cleared out at least once a day but I suspect it is more than once. How/why is it doing this? What is the point of caching if it keeps clearing itself out?
I sent the admin user details in my private reply
So after 2 hours of troubleshooting CSS issues, this thread pointed me in the right direction. I took a look at my User Interface “Disable Style & Script” settings on our Staging Site and none of the options were checked. Whereas on my live site, they were all checked and completely messing up all of my templates. Hopefully, with future updates, this will not happen again.
Yes, it is conflicting with Post Content block. However, you cannot select to edit nor drag the Post Content block once you click off of it or go back to edit later … unless you deactivate WordPress Download Manager. There are now several instances of the Post Content block on the example URL I sent that cannot be edited.
I downloaded 5.0.5 from my WPDM account. Deactivated/deleted 5.0.4 and uploaded/activated 5.0.5. My site seems to be working as expected (front & backend) . . . at least for now. Just my experience, NOT saying it’s a fix. I had a staging site to test it on first.
Same issues this morning with 5.0.4. Have to deactivate in order to use my wp-admin. Does 5.0.5 resolve this issue?
The files in these directories are showing both 664 and 644. Which of these is correct?
That’s so AWESOME Shahriar! Amazing support as always!!! ๐
Host applied the solution and now we have PDF thumbs.
OOPS … never mind! I put it in the /themes folder instead of the ACTIVE theme. Seems to be working perfectly now. Thanks!
I downloaded fresh copy of 5.0.2, deleted old version, uploaded new. It is now working. Also, the degraded performance of WP admin is back to normal.
I had the same problem with row 11 duplicating itself on Bulk Import today. However, at same time, I noticed one row was not adding itself at all when importing.
Turns out, the row that was not adding itself had parentheses in the “title” field. Once I removed these parentheses, the bulk import ran fine … no duplicates. Is that a bug or should I remove all parentheses from titles?
Yep that folder was missing and now it works! This is so awesome … thanks for implementing this feature. I will be using it quite a bit.
Just FYI: I found that if I have commas in your post title, it breaks that row of data in the export.
Never mind. All sorted now. Plugin conflict.
Yes, my file browser root was pointing to our old server, so that worked.
However, when I upload a file by browser that’s on our server, it replaces “wp-content/uploads” with “phs-media”. Any idea why? We did move to a new server, but I didn’t change any settings. Maybe I’m missing another setting that needs to be updated?
Ex:
I type https://mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/download-manager-files/np/social_studies/geo/state-study/file_name.pdf
It save as https://mysite.com/phs-media/download-manager-files/np/social_studies/geo/state-study/file_name.pdf
Hi again,
I just realized that I wasn’t too clear in my question and that you probably thought I was referring to a user who was uploading a package from the front-end.
I meant is there any functionality present that would allow users to add tags to a current package created by wp-admin? Users will not be able to create packages on our site.
I’m thinking of something that would function like a comment section but would instead add tags.
I’m assuming I need to hire 3rd party for something like this, but just wanted to check first.
