Thank you, but that does not achieve what the issue is. That does change the url base, but it does not remove the leading URL when the wordpress permalink settings are set to custom.
Here is a custom category URL base as you offered: https://app.screencast.com/DMDveNeyXjXmG
Which is working, but also preceded with the custom url: https://app.screencast.com/ULn4vnRGvGOS0
Which is set website’s permalink settings: https://app.screencast.com/FUpu9GbJloi4n
This can be fixed if you simply set your custom taxonomy & tag settings to ‘with_front ► false’ (it defaults to ‘true’) See the official wordpress codex here: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/register_taxonomy/#parameters (Scroll down to the rewrite section)
There is no reason that I can think of where your custom taxonomies would need to be set ‘with_front ► true’
Thank you. All good now.
+1 here. It’s the reason for my visit to the forums today. I’ve been using WPDM for years on numerous sites and this happens seemingly on every other update and it’s been happening for years. Every other update it seems we have to go through the same old “delete and manually re-install” process that seems to be the only response to this issue.
I came here because mine won’t update either, again. I’ve been using WPDM for years on numerous sites and the automatic updating works only about 50% of the time. I end up “deleting plugin and manually re-installing” probably every other update – frustrating that this still happens in 2020. Search the forum history and you’ll see years worth of similar posts, with the same reply “delete and manually re-install”. The plugin is great which is why I use it on numerous sites, but the updating methodology needs to get overhauled from the ground up. I manage 80+ wp sites with a total of 483 different plugins (so says my ManageWP console), many of them paid/premium plugins and none have as many problems updating so frequently and for so long.
Thank you. I don’t think I tried that . . . obviously. I appreciate the help.
Thank you for your response.
I should have mentioned what I tried before coming to the forums here. Bootstrap JS is already disabled (and has been). Font Awesome is / has also disabled.
UPDATE: If I disable Bootstrap CSS, then the accordion functionality works (each section expands) but all of the formatting disappears and it’s messed up.
Here is what it USED to look like prior to the update: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kwlv28dk3rcrr2m/2019-12-03_16-18-26.jpeg?dl=0
Here is what it looks like after the updates (with Bootsrap CSS disabled): https://www.dropbox.com/s/2zxt94yxx4wrr2e/2019-12-03_16-27-44.jpeg?dl=0
Just to clarify, this site has been working fine for at least a year. It wasn’t until the recent updates things broke.
Thank you
Thank you Shahriar. That worked great and I’ve disabled the categories from displaying.
Is there any option to put that into my child theme’s functions file to avoid it getting overwritten during future plugin updates?
Thanks Archatlweb. I realized that after I posted my question. I even closed the thread marking it resolved, and noted that in my response yesterday.
I just saw the fix you posted to another thread with the same issue yesterday so I’m marking this resolved.
But, Since something like this can be catastrophic to probably a ton of working sites, would you consider emailing out to your users this fix? I would have loved to have known about it yesterday before my client found it on Monday.
I am here in the forums because the same issue happens to me. (I’ve been using WPDM for at least 3-4 years and I have to go through this just about every time I renew my license, and probably every other time there is a plugin update)
The only way my license key saved was to deactivate and delete the plugin (don’t worry, your data/settings save) and re-install the latest version. Only then the license key saved properly.
I just had to do this for both (2 out of 2) websites that use the Pro license.
But i wish this issue would get fixed – it’s been happening on/off for years. I manage 77 wordpress sites and this plugin is one of the most difficult to maintain / update / renew.
I regularly have similar issues and have to go through the “deactivate and delete” method to get my license key to save. Just happened again to me today . . . which is why I’m here in the forums.
Thank you Shahriar. I have implemented the temporary fix so hopefully that will clear it for now.
How do you propose a fix for the long term? As soon as we update the plugin, this temporary code will get overwritten. You say that we have an additional problem with caching – is that just the display of the -1, or is that causing the NONCE issue to begin with? I’m using WPRocket which allows one to customize many of the different settings.
That worked. I typically use extra secure passwords, but this worked. Thank you!
I have 2 sites that I’m using WPDM Pro on so this will save me time.
Thank you, that worked!
This happened to me about 2 months ago when migrating a dev site to live production server. All of our links and download pages reverted back to the default. Never finding out why/how, I ended up simply rebuilding the templates and had to do a search & replace to update all of the custom shortcodes. Luckily I only had 2 of them, and luckily, I knew how to use Search & Replace as we had about 40 instances of using a custom template.
FWIW – I transferred my site using ManageWP Clone feature.
Thank you for your prompt reply.
Though I’m not sure I understand how this affects individual file downloads. What you describe above is indeed how mine is working, but only for the complete package. Even after I submit the form entry, the individual file download links do not show up.
Please see this screenshot: https://www.screencast.com/t/CTm9guJDiG1
How do we get individual files to appear while using the email lock function?
or possibly I should first ask, is individual file download an option with the lock feature? (Nothing in the documentation or UI states this)
Thank you.
The image function on the forums doesn’t work. Here are the 3 screenshots I attempted to put above.

Thanks Shaon. I purchased and tested the S3 Add-on with this very goal in mind. But unfortunately, that Add-on is not suitable for our use. The fact that it doesn’t display or interact with the files & folders in their hierarchical structure, and instead just lists every file one big long list makes it extremely difficult (if not impossible) to manage. If it acted like your regular file explorer which is what we’re using now, it’d be 100% awesome!! (I posted about this issue in a separate thread.)
The reason for my questions – I know some Cache/CDN Plugins will allow you to add/define specific folders/files. So I was curious if these would classify. For instance, W3 Total Cache allows you to connect to MaxCDN, and then specify additional folders to be served from the CDN. What if we defined the same directory that is defined in the WPDM File Access Directory Browser settings? See this screenshot: https://db.tt/KOqwJXB8
Thanks,
Blake
P.S. Your plugin is awesome, btw!
+1 for me.
I purchased this plugin in hopes that it would act like the default “Attach File” area, but it does not.
I am interested in this too. It’s not required, but would be super helpful, and as Kalico said, as it works now, it makes the combination of Tags & Categories somewhat of a moot point if you can’t use one to filter out the other (I.e. tags to filter out packages within a specific Category.) I am building a Software / Documentation platform and I need something like:
Category + Tag
E.g.
Documentation related to Version 5.x
Documentation related to Version 4.x
Software related to Version 5.x
Software related to Version 4.x
I’d buy it as a Add-on if it was made available.
