Thanks I will take a look just now.
As long as it can be set as a default for all categories Nayeem. Ideally I’d like to be able to create my own layout that showed title and description, but as a fix it would solve a problem as long as it works for all.
Hi,
Yes that is right, on all category pages I’d like the page title and description field from the download categories.
In the past I have created invididual pages for each of the categories, and used the shortcode which shows title description and links. But because I use breadcrumb it links to WPDM categories only and no title or description.
Cab I ask for help from Shahjada please..
No idea why it is timing out, it doesn’t for me.
Maybe explain what you’re doing and I’ll try to do the same…
Hi,
Have no idea what you mean? link templates control the way that the links look? I don’t understand how that will give me a category page with a page title? What am I missing ?
Maybe I’ll phrase it differently, where is the template for the category page?
After looking into it more, I can clone link templates, but that controls the look of links only. I can clone a page template, but there doesn’t seem to be one for default categories, just individual page templates for controlling the look of the individual download page. The variables all relate to the download itself, and can’t see a way of creating a template that shows the page title and a description.
So no further forward.
I would be happy just to use what is in the screenshot, just so long as I can get a page title and description. I don’t see the need to clone templates unless the defaults do not show title and description.
The default link templates work well for me, so at risk of repeating, how to get a title and description showing ?
Hi
Thanks, but if you read back, I mentioned that I also changed to Do not apply, but I want to style the output so it is two columns with info about each as well as having a page title and description?
I found a solution, but it’s not ideal. I changed from Global to “do not apply” and the title and description returned. However the layout is not what I was after. I changed to custom template to get the look I was after, and the title and description disappeared again.
Thanks, I think I’ll just do it manually, with some columns and direct links. Just thought there might have been a shortcode.
Thank you for finding the problem out.
Ok, I’ll leave as is, am not sure what else uses Bootstrap on my site, possibly whatever it is, is conflicting. I don’t have time to go through and see what is causing the problem at the moment.
Hi Nayeem, thanks for your response..
Unfortunately, this will query all downloads, where all I would like to have is a page showing the categories to allow users to click and see the downloads for those categories. I could probably build a page and add images and have them linked to the categories, but wondered if there was a shortchode just to list the category names (preferably with the thumbnail for that category).
I see what you’re suggesting, which would give a kind of tabbed approach but it will query all the downloads which will slow things down for a root page.
Works now.. will there be a fix for bootstrap 4, I liked the layout of that. Not urgent, just cosmetic.
Figured it out..
The template id is the one mentioned on this page..
So the query I ran was…
update wp_postmeta set meta_value='premium-package' where meta_key='__wpdm_template'
Only thing is, it updated 150 items, but I have more than 150 downloads.. so not sure how to catch the others.
Thank you Shahjada.
