to get the latest version, you need to download the plugin again from here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/purchases/ , delete old version and install new.

However you can use those short-code at wpdm template tag using following code:

@Florian, I just checked here https://www.samdownloads.de/firmwares/ and it is working fine for me. You were seeing the issue in demo as someone messed up the settings, but ok now.

it will not unlock anything, but if you don’t apply the key, after few days, your access in those menus will be restricted until you enter a valid key. If you enter key and click save settings, if you see congratulation message, that is all :).
