Hi,

I have downloaded the upcoming release version 2.7.0 of the wp download manager. I have noticed two issues:

1. I have created 3 test downloads – 2 word docs and 1 x pdf. As I try to create additional downloads, I am unable to assign an icon to the download – I have tried to set it to a variety of different icons and nothing seems to work – It lets me select the icon ok. I then save the download and once I go back to the icon box, nothing is selected.

The strange thing is that the plugin seems to be assigning the icon to the download on the front end – See the attached screenshot. But it does not display the icon and when I open the icons link in another tab it comes up as page not found on my website. I have checked the plugin folder and the icons are definitely in the correct folders…

This issue is prevalent on both a live test website and also on a localhost install as well.

2. Password protected file popup box – When you have enabled a password on a file and click on the link in the frontend of the site, a box pops up with field to enter the password. After the entering the password successfully a download button appears and by clicking on it everything works fine. However, the issue is that after successfully downloading the file, the popup remains on the page and there is no way to disable it. Is is possible to automatically disable this box after the download completes or just put a X somewhere on the popup allowing manual closing? See attached screenshot for what I mean.

Thanks. Great plugin.

1) to remove icon issue, please rename xlsx_mac.png with xlsx.png in dir /plugins/download-manager/file-type-icons/32x32/
2) To hide the popup simply need to click on trigger link again, though, I’ll add a close button on next update

the table actually shows the file type icon, not the select icon from admin, select icon will show with package short-code

Hi Shaon,

I have updated to the most version of v2.7.0 and 3 of the issues we discussed in this thread have not been addressed:

2. See screenshot – The jquery-ui-timepicker js file does not exist. I checked the file directory and its not included in the package… The chrome console shows the error.

3. No matter what I try, I cannot delete a file from the ‘attach file’ box. i.e. Clicking the large red x does nothing…

Number 1 is from post #15537 above and 2 and 3 are from post #16034 above…

#1. That doesn’t make much sense from an optimal user interaction point of view – 99% of users won’t know what to do… A X in the top right corner of the box would make more sense?

#2 Thanks

#3 Thanks

Thanks, #2 and #3 seem to be resolved now. Can’t see any major flaws with this plugin after #1 is resolved 🙂

Hey Shaon,

Few questions if you don’t mind.

#1. Any update of when #1 we discussed on the previous page will be resolved/updated?

#2. When will v2.7 be released on wordpress.org?

#3. There is a responsive issue with the plugin. On mobile devices, the downloads table does not display correctly/optimally. This happens on the default twentythirteen theme and also my premium theme. The attached screenshot was taken on a Samsung Galaxy S4

Any idea if that responsive issue will be resolved soon?

Thanks

I see. You wouldn’t have a coupon code available for the pro version? Would consider purchasing the pro version, but a discount would push me over the edge 🙂 …

Hey Shaon,

I am just going through the PRO demo to see if I will be purchasing the premium version…

There is a feature missing that I requested in this thread for the free version:

2. Similar to the above, it would be handy to have an X in the corner of the pop up box at all times… for example, someone may click the download button by mistake and want to have an obvious way of closing the box down…

Could you add a X in the corner of the popup box on the pro version?

Finally, there is a pretty major feature missing for a premium product in my opinion. There is no shortcode button/generator in the WordPress post/page editor. So you have go to your documentation page to find out how to construct the shortcodes you want to use – for example, a download table with only one specific category.

Are you planning to introduce a short code builder of some sort which makes it much easier for novices at WordPress to make use of your plugin?

Thanks
