Varnish friendly

I’m having trouble with my shopping cart timing out and showing an “internal server error”. I’ve been shown that the reason this is happening is because Download Manager is not Varnish friendly. I like using Download Manager and don’t want to change plugins. any chance this is going to be fixed in an update?
