Unable to add new file

Today, I attempted to add a few additional files via Download Manager’s “add new” screen. However, a number of the buttons on the right hand side of the screen were non responsive when pressed – in particular the “select file” button where you could then choose your source file on your computer to upload.

It was some weeks since I last attempted to upload a new file and, during that time, both WordPress and Download Manager has been updated. Does anyone else have this issue? Just in case it was browser related, I attempted to do this via Chrome, Edge Chrome and IE11 – the same problem was present on all of them.

Okay, please check changing your active theme to others or you can also enable/disable your other plugins if there any conflict remained.

Thanks.

Please share the browser console error when you click any portion of WPDM and then it is not working.

Thanks.

No error at all. The buttons simply do not respond when clicked. This applies on Chrome, Edge Chromium and IE11.

Hello, I’m experiencing the same issue with the buttons not working when trying to add a new file.

It was showing the most recent version. I did go ahead and deactivate, delete and reinstall the Download Mgr plugin anew. Same problem.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Good to hear mine is not the only example of this out there. This afternoon we have been working through some of the proposed solutions. There appears to be no conflict with other plugins or themes and it occurs irrespective of the browser we are using. I’ll hold off of trying anything else since this cannot now be down to solely our site/installation.

Yes sir…I’ve been chasing this issue myself for a couple of days (not really knowing how long it’s been like this) and just resulted in reaching out here. I try to do my best to research and resolve any problems before reaching out. Nothing has changed on our site except a few calendar plugins. And I deactivated those with no change to the issue with DM.

It sounds like this may have been introduced by a recent Download Manager upgrade. The last file I added via Download Manager was on 20 July (with no issues) and we have added no functionality to our site since then. All that has happened in the interim was a routine upgrade to the latest version of WordPress with associated updates to a number of plugins (including Download Manager). Everything else continues to work perfectly which points to a Download Manager issue as opposed to an issue with another plugin.

I’m having a similar issue, whereby I can drag and drop a file into the add new panel or select it from my computer/media library, but the loading bar doesn’t disappear and the file doesn’t upload.

This seems to have only been the case since the recent update.

For myself, nothing works in terms of attempting to add a new file on the Add New screen (i.e. drag/drop into the green shaded square, the green “Select File” button, URL, Select from Media Library or Select from Server). If I click on any of the buttons absolutely nothing happens ditto for attempting drag/drop

Still no joy on this side. Looking back, the only other change we’ve applied to our website since the last successful “Add New” operation is to utilise “Let’s Encrypt” so that our site is HTTPS as opposed to just HTTP. Could this be causing anything behind the scenes with WP Download Manager?

Hi @sgraves,
WPDM doesn’t have any such issue, you are facing problem due to a javascript error coming from another plugin DZS Video Gallery installed on your site.

@debsnews, looks like your theme is not compatible with the latest version of wordpress, there is a js error coming from your theme which causing the issue:

Given the number of users highlighting this issue, there seems to be some fragility with the latest version of WP download manager which was not present before. Sadly, our Company’s IT policy prevents us setting up temporary admin rights for yourselves to access our website. However, thus far, we have run diagnostics over the other plugins used (no issues found), reset PHP levels, rolled our site back by a few weeks to exclude all latest updates, tested the issue (problem still present), rolled it forward again (problem still present) and tried a different theme (no joy either).

All we know is that we could successfully add new files on July 20th but cannot do so now. All other aspects of our site and its administration continue to work perfectly.
