Hello, does anyone know why the option to protect a file from the Media Library for specific roles has disappeared? I have checked all settings but cannot find anything related to this.
Under Settings > Basic > File Browser Access, I have “Editor” selected. Previously, editors were able to protect files, but now the option is completely gone from the Media Library.
Has anyone run into this before or know what might be causing it? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. No, I am not using the premium version. I am using the free version, and this was working before. It seems that some changes were made. Is there really no way to make this work anymore with the free version, and are we now required to upgrade to the Pro version?
For now, the capability available for Administaror only in the free version. You can upgrade too to the Pro version, it has lots of extended features. Please kindly check.
Thank you
We have custom role with upload_files: 1 capability, but now in backend WordPress media files when we open files, we can’t protect these files, this works with version 3.3.03 but not with latest version. Protecting files will work with administrator, but not with this custom role. In settings we have only Administrator in Privacy > Access settings > Tiedostoselaukseen pääsy:
Is this same issue as in this thread, and we must buy licence?
in free version 3.3.45, we have next settings, and feels that adding customer role to this list doesn’t have any effect.

Are you talking about File Browser Access capability? Please kindly check and let me know.

We have purchased version 7.3.1 and are experiencing the same issue. This time, the “Checking status..” text briefly appears to custom role users, but the file protection settings do not remain visible. This works for Administrator users.
