How to hide all download pages from things like search and tags

I’m not sure I’m even asking the question correctly.

Now that I have created download items, they are appearing all over my site. When someone clicks on a tag, the items shows up. When you do a search, they show up.

How do I prevent the download items from being discoverable in all those places? I love the plug in, but I don’t want people to be able to see these pages (are they even called pages, these download items?)

Sometimes it will depend on your theme, however, please give me temporary wp-admin login info in a private reply to check your issue.
