I am taking care of a site that is using Download Manager free (I think it is the free version) and we have a customer who cannot access a download because she does not know the “Password”. She is a customer and the download is associated with a product she has purchased (an online course). She has access to the download supposedly because she has a customer role and that role has been added to this download instance. What I do not know is how that password would have been created and how that customer would have received it? (Sorry, new to this plugin and just trying to quickly help this customer). As long as she is logged in using her password for the site, and she has purchased the course that this download is associated with, should she not have access to the download without a password?

Just a bit more: I see in the download in question, there has been a password set. How would the student actually know this password? Does it get sent out by DLM?

Sorry for some late. I have checked that, your password lock is working fine from my side. Can you please check this doc too, if you have any confusion about lock options, Lock file downloads using various social networking actions (wpdownloadmanager.com), and getting knowledge about the password? Yes, you have to know previously which password is used for that file/package for unlocking the file/package. I hope you have understood now
