Getting either error 500 or 502 when i hit the "download" button.

Both from the front end, and also when i try to download it from the “downloads” section in the wp admin panel. Yesterday it was downloading fine, but all day today it redirects me to a 500/502

Here is what the error page is showing:

The page request was canceled because it took too long to complete
What can I do?

I dont have ftp access so I cant get server error logs. I deactivated plugin and reactivated.

this is the specific error i get following the failed download action

I purchased this last week. I have version 2.3.3 which seems to be up to date

you’ll see that when you go to the “downloads” panel, even downloading a doc from there shows error. If i deactivated “wpmembership” plugin, it would let me download one of the documents, but the other doc would give me a 502
