Hi,

I’m in the process of building a site using Paid Memberships Pro to restrict access to members only pages and would like to use WP Download Manager to manage the files available on the paid members only restricted pages. This is genrally working well apart from the fact that WP Download Manager creates pages that are accessible if you know the URL to the page for each specific download.

Is there any way that these individually generated pages can either be restricted or removed so only pages that I have set up and inserted the relevant shortcodes in to display the available downloads for a particular category are available to the end user?

If I set access to the download to be restricted to Administator (or an alternative) then access to the download link disappears on my custom pages. I can’t set access to be based on the ‘Customer’ user group as membership expires after 12 months but the user would still be classed as a customer and have access to the individual file pages.

I hope this makes sense and any help would be greatly appreciated as this seems like the perfect WP plug-in to handle the files if I can overcome this issue.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Paul C

You also can control download manager page visibility using the membership plugin like you did for other post or pages

I know you can manage the pages that I create in WordPress and display the content created by Download Manager, which is exactly what I need.

However, where would I go to manage access to the autogenerated content that is under http://www.MYWEBSITE.COM/download/CATEGORY-NAME?

There is no page visible in the Pages section of WordPress to be able to manage access to that page, and if you have the URL to any Download Manager category, anyone with the relevant privalges can see it and access the download. I need to stop this from happening.

If this is something only the Pro version can do, I’m happy to purchase that to get everything set up correctly.

Thanks in advance.

when creating new file you can set access = which can download the file, in pro you also can control who can view the contents, however we have a membership plugin http://wppromembership.com/ which is specially optimized for download manager.

Hi Shaon,

I’m not sure you are understanding my issue.

I know I can restrict access based upon user groups (i.e. Admin, Editor, etc.) but the only group that is applicable is Customer (as we are using WooCommerce to manage 12 month memberships). However, once the 12 month membership expires, they would still be part of the Customer group and therefore still be able to access the individual download pages.

All I need is the ability to either stop the individual download pages being generated or apply the ability to restrict access to the page itself while still allowing access to the downloads on the custom pages I create for each category.

Sadly it’s not viable to undo all the setup and move over to a different membership system.

but in that was actually you don’t have to change anything around wpdm. you just need to change in user section, after 12 months, you need to remove those user from “Customer” role and assign any other role. your membership plugin should do that.
