Can I stop someone from downloading the file if they know the URL?

I have created some files and assigned some user roles for access which works fine when browsing the page. If someone knows the URL ie
website/wp-content/uploads/download-manager-files/unit-1-resource-pack-10.pdf then the file downloads without them logging in. Is there a way to stop this?

No I cannot access the file, how do I set permissions within Download Manager? is there an article I can read?

Here is another good resource.
However, with the WPDM Pro, you can do it easily through the Download>Assets Manager section by following this.
