For one one of the documents on my website I require both a password and an email subscription. With the email subscription in 3.8.8 I was able to ask for the name, company, and email address. I upgraded to 4.0.0RC2 because in 3.8.8 challenging for a download stopped working altogether.
I have Link Template set to : Call to Action 1
I have Page Template set to: Single Column, Flat
Problem 1 – Under the lock option tabs under package settings, selected “enable password lock” type in password. Update Page, view – There is a download button on the page which works when you type in the correct password. There is also a download link on the page (P1A – there should be one of these not both) which when you click on it asks for a password, typing in the correct password gives you an error message (P1B). If you then go to custom fields and select the “password_lock” custom field it works. I would like to see the link disappear from the page and have only the button I defined.
Problem 2 – Next I turned off password lock in the page options and deleted it from the Customer Fields. Enabled email lock which comes up with a message “Will ask for email (and checked customer data) before download. However, unlike 3.8.8, there is no way to add custom data. There is nothing more than this message (Problem 2A).
Now, preview the page and I still have the button for download which is asking for a password. However, this should be gone now since it was deselected (P2B).
The download link (not a button, just text) does ask you to subscribe for download and does work. However, I would expect the call to action now to be “subscribe” with a button and a place to enter email address. P2C
Problem 3 – Next it gets real fun. Enable both Password Lock and Email Lock only in Package Settings. I of course still have my password field with the download button. Entering the password and clicking on the download button results in an immediate download instead of also asking for an email address and email the link to the download (P3A).
Clicking on the “download link” brings up a dialog box to enter a password and has a submit button as well as e field to enter an email and a subscribe button. There should be two requests and one button (P3B).
Entering in the password results in a “wrong password” error message until you then also create a Custom Field with the password in it. (P3C – must only create this password in one place).
Once the custom field is in place typing in the password results in a file being downloaded called “invalid-link.txt”. This will cause phone calls and emails from people trying to get to the file. (P3D).
It also results in a new download button coming up that only downloads the error message (P3E).
If you then do enter your email address a link will be sent with the proper download link.
Bottom line on Problem 3 is when both Password lock and email lock are enabled you should be asked for all the criteria directly on the page and then have a subscribe/submit button. Also that link on the page shouldn’t be there…there should only be the buttons.
I tried version 4, could not get to work at all. The import from free plugin not functional. Doesn’t assign categories and so on. Numerous other bugs, too many to report. I changed to version 3, and had more issues. Though not so many as version 4. Now have reverted to free version after trying several hours without any success. Here are the issues so far:
1. Bug in email signup
If you enter invalid email address, this appears:
{“error”:”Invalid Email Address!”,”downloadurl”:””}
2. How to remove promo message from Twitter signup page when twitter user not signed in?:
“Don’t miss any updates from A H M Shahnur Alam. Get your account today to stay up-to-date with your interests!”
3. Not possible to use “icon only” format. So pro version incompatible with free one – I would need change all my page layouts.
[download_link] cannot be used to create template because not a simple link, and therefore not workable into any of the templates
4. Pages/popups keeps displaying the text “[wpdm_reviews]”.
From a user point of view, I prefer the format of free plugin, it seems much more stable and user friendly. Neither version compatible with free plugin because can’t show icon only and link, and that means I would need to modify all of my pages/layouts for these complicated boxes to display properly, which I don’t want in any case.
Hi,
I noticed two problems with the pagination in 4.0 RC1 which you may have fixed already.
Line 69: the total should be wrapped in the ceil() function to catch every page.
Line 83: the . before paginate_links should be a comma.
Looking forward to RC2.
Merry Christmas!
Everything works great, I can load the package and the email lock works as expected, the user can even fill out their name and email and they will receive an email with a working download link.
The problem is after the user fills out their name and email and then clicks ‘submit’ another little screen pops up and I do not know how to style it or edit text that should be in it. It would be great if it said success check your email for a download link or something. Where or how can I do that? Thank you very much.
Inspecting the element it says it is the ‘alert success’

Is the [wpdm_package id=xx] the only shortcode usable inside pages?
What I’ve to do to have, as result of a shortcode in a page, only the download counter for a package without any link to the download?
Thanks
Hi,
I have an incompatibility with the plugin bns-featured-category which displays the recent posts of a specific category.
As you can see at http://www.adapei01.asso.fr/download/revue-fevrier-2013/, in the widget (‘Articles récents’ = ‘Recent posts’), the post description and the permanent link are not those of the post but are those of the package.
Thank you
