For wpdm_all_packages shortcode, you have to edit file from plugins\download-manager\tpls\wpdm-all-downloads.php file and for [file_list] tag you have to edit plugins\download-manager\libs\class.FileList.php file
Yes, All download will redirect a specific page, which will contain the lazy download shortcode. Yes, it will support your existing downloads and will work in the free version too
The error can show for some reasons. WP download manager is a large plugin, with many modules and language files. This can cause issues with some servers when using the automatic update.
It can be happen if there is an issue with the zip file you’re uploading/downloaded. It can also be happened with your hosting as WordPress doesn’t have enough memory on the web server to unzip and upload the contents of the zip file.
Please try manually reinstalling WPDM? To do so, download the WPDM plugin here:
You can do this manually by logging in to your site via FTP or Cpanel, and delete the existing WPDM plugin from plugins folder. You should then be able to reinstall the plugin manually by following the instructions here:
Thanks for the advice. I have done the following:
1) While logged-in to wpdownloadmanager.com, I went to my “Hello….DownloadArea” Order Details Clicked on ‘License’ (key) icon to find the License Key.
2) While logged in to my WordPress admin dashboard, I went to Downloads Settings License. I could then see the License Key that was already stored there. It was already the correct License Key.
3) I clicked SAVE SETTINGS
4) On my WordPress admin dashboard, I went back to Plugins Installed Plugins DownLoad Manager and tried again to update. This time it updated successfully.
So I have two questions. First, the License Key stored in my WordPress was already correct, so why didn’t the Plugin update the first twenty times I tried to update it??!!
Second, if it is necessary to jump through this hoop of checking and updating the License Key on the WordPress site every time before the Plugin will update itself, why doesn’t DownLoad Manager create some clear, friendly instructions about how to do this and make them accessible to customers who need them?
If this can be done as an option somewhere: please tell me and I would be happy to do it!
My primary goal is to ensure that protected downloads are never exposed to non-authorized people, even accidentally, and the “Prev” and “Next” buttons seem to be a “gap” in the protection. On top of that, they are not really required for anything at least in my case.
I am using the Download Manager to manage downloads for different customers – which is obviously the main purpose and works nicely!
However, several times I was already running into a trap. Right now I saw it happening again, but then I was not able to reproduce my steps, so my question remains a bit unspecific.
The trap is: In SOME user pages you will find “Prev” and “Next” buttons – and they will override all the nice accessibility settings that you have done for the Download Manager! So basically you open the download page for a specific user category, like “Customers” in my case, and you see there downloads for that category. On top of that I have also downloads for single users specifically. They will find these downloads either in their user profile page or also together with the general “Customers” download page. So far so good.
But then you may click on one download, this brings you sometimes to another page – and there you have these “Prev” and “Next” buttons – and these do not care at all about anything: you will get to the downloads that are strictly reserved for another customer… I had this once with real protected user data – and it was a pain!
To me it looks like it is about choosing the right templates in many places: download settings, maybe user settings, maybe other locations – I tend to lose track sometimes a bit, and this is exactly the problem!
What I would like to see: A setting that blocks all possible “Prev” and “Next” buttons in ALL possible download templates completely! So that even if I once forget to set the correct template in some location, I am not opening unwanted backdoors.
Is there such a thing available? Like somehow disabling a code, that templates may use for enabling “Prev” and “Next”, so that even if these buttons would appear, nothing would happen? Not nice, but better than giving people access to the wrong data…
I think another moderator was able to address the shortcode not showing, they applied a patch. I want to show just the downloads shared with that user, not list all downloads, is there a way to do that?
Hi Shahjada, our host says our site can handle the downloads, so I will not be using AS3 after all. (Just a side note, very glad to see you in support!)
please check this option Downloads > Settings > License option if there correct license or not and save settings again. Then try again to update. It will work then, I have already updated your plugin
Hello, in the packages managment (downloads/all packages) in the backend i’d like to have direct download-links for either the package itself or its contained files. Can you please help me to achieve that.
Hi, the updates are still failing with error message: The package coud not be installed. The package contains no files.
It tried the recommendation from last time which was:
“If update fails like this you just have to logout and login again from Downloads > Settings > Updates tab.”
This doesn’t do anything as it seems to think there is nothing to update. The free add-ons are up to date and there are no purchased add-ons showing even though I should be on the Pro package.
Please help thanks.
