Topic: Files are not updatable
Hi support-team,
we use WPDM 4.5.6 and it’s not possible for us to upload a file with the same name twice.
For example:
We upload a file called “Textfile.txt”. A few days later we upload a updated Version of this File.
When someone now downloads this file from our website he gets the old, outdated Version of “Textfile.txt”We tried out nearly everything, but it’s just not possible. We tried to delete the old file first, but it always shows us
the file as “imported” in the bulk-upload section, even when we delete the entry from the database and the file from the uploads-folder.What can we do to fix that?

Topic: Download Stats Not Updating
Any idea why the stats would not be updating?
I have the pro version installed on a single Multisite installation on my localhost at this stage. I have added some files and downloaded them.
– If I go to my User Dashboard it says I have not downloaded anything (on the main page as well as in the Download History).
– If I go in as Admin and view Stats in the WPDM menu it also shows zero downloads.
– If I load the Frontend Upload page it lists the documents and indicates how many times they have been uploaded, so that bit seems correct.

Do you have the Downloads menu in dashboard? All packages page is the first item in submenu of Downloads
It is the page where you browse all your downloads.

If you want to create a download page like blog page to show all your downloads, enable WPDM archive page and assign a unique slug for it. Check following screenshot.

Use custom template ( step 3 ) for
[wpdm-all-packages]shortcode../download-manager/tpls/wpdm-all-downloads.php file used for the above shortcode. Remove link in marked line to use only category name.

1. Use tinymce addon to insert shortcode. You will have option to choose Link Template when available in a shortcode.
2. You have to modify /download-manager/tpls/wpdm-all-downloads.php file for that. That template is used for all packages shortcode.

Hi, the wpdmlogin-form is showing up over 10 times on my download-page. this is new… I have no restrictions on my downloads, they are free for “all visitors” and also the categories are free for all… how can this happen?

Did you apply email lock in your downloads? Subscribers list show all emails captured by email lock feature. It doesn’t show your WordPress users with subscriber role.

Hi there,
I can’t find any information on how to actually implement this plugin. How do I specify which pages the downloads show on? Is there a way to have the downloads appear on my home page/blog post page?

“Premium Package” converts to store. Please go to downloads-> all files/ add new -> Package Settings, you will get the options for adding prices and discounts.

Thanks for your patience.
The downloads are working just fine, WP Super Cache plugin in causing the problem. As all downloads via our plugin are done via a GET request. So I checked the option: ‘Don’t cache pages with GET parameters. (?x=y at the end of a url)’ and the downloads are working again.

Hi there,
I can see you dint change “Allow access” in file. You need to set Allow Access = “” or specific user roles you want to allow access.
Check wp-admin► Downloads ► All files(Edit)/Add file ► Package Settings ► Allow Access.I hope this solves your issue.

In mind the main website idea is selling PDF’s, Kindly advice about the availability of the few point below:
1. Allow adding sub-admins aka resellers and allow them to add end-users aka downloaders.
*** I already know that possibility to sell credit for downloads already available from your website but that’s for downloaders only and this website need to sell to organizations in big amounts then they distribute on to their downloaders.
2. Allow downloaders to signup with passwords automatically as main admin downloaders or another reseller downloaders.
*** Just to make sure each reseller can have it’s own downloaders, Then of-course allowing resellers and admin to see what users searched and opened to preview or done downloaded with their credits, Some statistics for resellers and admin.
3. Search in admin for downloads to edit or remove, Now just browsing and paginate because the number or downloads would be around 100k PDF file. Each file (I guess already) should have it’s own counter for views and downloads, If the script have stats for visitors that’s even better.
*** If the script can open PDF for preview some pages or part of the pages that’s great, Also if the script can read PDF first few pages and put it in the WordPress post body that’s even better so the PDF contents will be searchable inside the site.
4. Prevent repeated downloads because downloading for priced files will be charged by credits and real money, Even for a day after single download or after specific period such as when end-user pay for PDF file then the file downloadable for a day or so.
I’ve installed the testing free version and it doesn’t look like the demo or the pro version, Is that a special theme ? May prefer the website looks to be professional PDF download such as http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/search.html

Yes, you can. Use category shortcode for that. Install TinyMCE addon to insert shortcode easily.

Just an update to this…
I have so far deleted the package and recreated it. I have used upload, URL and file browser to the file. I have renamed the file. I have deactivated all my plugins, I have updated all plugins, themes etc. I have deatcivated the Download Manager plugin. I have regenerated the download key. I have cleared the cache – still it is not working.
The LinkedIn button remains blank when you hover over it and the Twitter Follow just downloads a text file which I have attached.
This is happening on ALL of our downloads.
This is now causing us very serioud problems and needs resolving ASAP.

Probably you can do that by setting access option somehow, you need to set Allow Access = “user-role” or specific user roles you want to allow access.
