Good news, no conflicts with themes or plugins. The issue was related to a multi-site setting I was not familiar with for uploads. After matching the settings from my WPDM it worked.

For user experience, is there a way to provide user feedback if uploads are not the correct file type or to large? That would be helpful.

That is correct. The shortcode is just for uploading resources.

We would love to see our upload function like your demo. With the uploading process bar and seeing the attachment listed.

I fixed it – it was a divi theme issue
