I’m not comfortable posting an admin login as a reply. I installed Temporary Login Without Password plugin but I need an email to send it to. Or is there some other way to give you temporary admin privileges?

That box is not checked in settings and it still opens in the browser.

Thank you for responding. When I download from other sites to my computer (a Macintosh) the download goes straight to my hard drive to a folder labeled Downloads. With Download Manager, at least the way it is now set up, the download (a pdf) does not go to my download folder. Instead, it opens in a browser (Safari) window and from the window I have to download the pdf which is then stored on my drive in the Download folder. I would like to have the download process skip the step of opening in the browser and have it go directly to the Download folder.

I don’t know why this is marked as “Resolved.” It’s not what I was looking for. People who want to download our product will have to access a private page to register and I want just those people to be assigned a special role solely intended for those who get the download. The setting you suggested has always been set to “Subscriber” and I want to leave it that way. WordPress Download Manager at Settings>Frontend Access has a section entitled “Allowed Sign up Roles” the description of which says “ . . . users signed up using that form will be assigned to that selected role.” I really can’t find a “signup” form and can only assume that it is referring to the registration form which I want to use but only if those who register through the private page (which uses the package shortcode) are assigned that special role. I did try it out but anyone who registers using the form are assigned the role of “Subscriber” and not “TFWP Download” which is what I want to happen.

I am using the short code [wpdm_package id='xxxx'] for the Registration form. The ID for the user role I want to use is called “download”. Does this ID need to be included in the shortcode to make this happen and if so how do I do that? There are no instructions or hints in the support documents to guide me. Thanks.
