If you want to show some categories, then you need to follow following steps:

1. Create a root category , lets name it You Cat ( supposed, the slug is your-cat )
2. Add other categories as sub cat of “Your Cat”
3. Now add the parameter category='your-cat' with the short-code

Sorry for delayed reply. Tested here http://www.alisystems.com/wpdm-archive/ , page looks ok even though there are some minor css conflict, however looks like filter is not working due to some other plugin conflict. May I test disabling other plugins temporarily.
