Just wanted to thank you for fixing my download counter. I didn’t get an email saying it was fixed, like you normally do, but a huge thank you for getting that fixed.

You didn’t say which version of pro your using? Are you in 3.8 or 4.0 ? If your in 4.0, you need to uninstall it, it is no longer needed.

If your in 3.8, did you add the fields to your template so they show on the front end download pages?

Each time you add a download for wpdm custom fields you also have to add the fields again. It does not remember those fields like it does in 4.0 now.

Since it’s been 3 weeks since I reported via email support that my download counter for the pro version isn’t working, I to would like this function, since I could manually add the download counts via the email I receive. However, I would like the email to tell me which download file the user downloaded since I don’t do member downloads. Is that possible?

Well no Shaon, I’ve upgraded to 4 and fixed everything. It took me all day and into the night last night, but it’s done. I moved the “featured” images into the description, because I can control my template with the image in the description which I couldn’t do with the featured image.

It seems wrong to make a change of a preview image into a forced featured image (especially when the featured image becomes so huge on the page, it needs to be centered) if people didn’t set those things up in the first place. The other problem is, that one needs a featured image now in order to use a gallery, and that’s not going to work for me either, so I’ll do without that, however, I did make a list of the changes other people will need to make when they upgrade to 4.0

Migration does the following:

Moves Preview image to Featured Image (not cool)
Will need to reset all categories
Reset Expirations
Reset Custom Fields
Enable Downloads for individual file
Upload any special icons you had previously so they will show up. (especially if you have your own) if you don’t upload ones you had added yourself, you’ll need to reset those. (Because upgrading deleted the files, it deleted anything you would have added as well as a file-icon.

Most likely you will need to redesign your custom template. (Even tho it will still see the template, the change of preview image to featured image, and custom fields will change how your download pages display.

Blue download button (where did my old one go)?

I realize this is the wrong topic, but I’m not going to pay for a customization for a feature I use to have in 3.8.

The other thing is, I did contact you about my issue with the expiration date not working and you wrote me back telling me to upgrade to 4.0. I really took that as a “no” I’m not going to fix a 3.8 script.

So all is well again, I’ve fixed my display, I’ve fixed my images, my categories are all reset, my expirations back in place, my custom fields are all setup again, individual downloads are all reset, why would I go back?

I’d prefer to have preview image back. Part of the reason I didn’t use the featured image option is because of the big huge picture it puts on the download page. This is a HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE thing for me, and I don’t want it there. The whole reason I created a template as well was to place the preview image where I wanted it and part of the reason I stayed in 3.8 was because things worked the way I liked them. Now that I’ve upgraded to 4.0 per your email, I’m having to re-do every download page, to enable individual downloads, add a expiration, deal with the image and even tho the migration brought the templates I designed over, the download page isn’t showing them as I had them previously. Plus as someone who owned the custom fields module for 3.8, I have to reset all my custom fields and I am NOT a happy camper. Part of the point in upgrading should not be all the work involved to redo these pages. I don’t have the time for this and I’m just a tiny site, I am sure all of those with 1000’s of downloads are also not happy campers. I just don’t have time for this.

On the pre-defined field, I’ve realized I can just “clone” to not have to remake the fields each time. 🙂

This is one example:

file:///%22http://primsydoodledesigns.net////%22 — I think because custom field value is adding a \ before the ” in the source code line for the link.

It adds more slashes with each save, but when first created the link looked like:

http://www.seamstobesew.com/”http://primsydoodledesigns.net/”

when I was hovering over the url, when I click on it, I get a 404. The first example doesn’t even do anything when I click.

I should add I’m not getting the latter error, just the 0 bytes. I am using version 3.6.1 and I added the files via the files already on server ability.

I won’t be upgrading to 3.71 until after thanksgiving as I am active on my blog at the moment and I don’t want to screw anything up that upgrades tend to have to do.

I also have this problem. I purchased the pro version this morning, got everything setup, and when I downloaded them myself, the files came up with 0 bytes. One was a .pdf file, and the other was a file format for a specific software.
