Hi – I had no issue with the plugin – it did what I needed very well. I cancelled the subscription because I shut down my website so I’m no longer using it! Thanks and best wishes.

Thanks for your reply. Before I had a chance to do this I received an email saying my auto-renew had been cancelled, so I assume that I don’t have to do anything more. Thanks if you were the one who did it. Kind regards.

OK, thanks so much. I don’t need to deactivate the old version first then?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately I’m having an issue with it, as no update is appearing in the “Downloads-Settings-Updates” menu. According to the WordPress dashboard, I have version 5.3.0 installed and need to update to version 6.3.3. However, that update isn’t appearing even when I click “check for updates” – the area under “Purchased Add-Ons” is empty and there is a very long list of things under “Free ad-ons”, but none include the WPDM Download Manager update to version 6.3.3. Help would be very much appreciated!

When I first created the website it was under the domain http://www.biggabug.com, then I changed it to teatimemonkeys.com shortly afterwards – but that was back in August 2017 so I would have thought the problem of the invalid license key would have happened before now if that was the problem. However, if I look in my cpanel, WPDM is in the plugins folder of biggabug, not teatimemonkeys.

OK. So once it’s done there’s no going back? Will it be impossible to put a password lock on any package in the future after running this code?

OK – not sure I understand. I add the code to the functions php file, open my website, then delete the code?

Hi – is there any solution to this?

Yes – the problem is that I want to change all the packages to “no lock”. The most obvious solution is what you did – to replace the code for the “Card embedded” template with the “Card embedded – no lock” code and therefore change all the packages at the same time. The problem is that this doesn’t work, because currently all the packages have the “Enable Password lock” selected in “Lock Options”. When this option is enabled, the updated code doesn’t work. If I disable this box, the updated code works. You can see this here: https://www.teatimemonkeys.com/test-opt-in/ – both packages use the “Card Embedded – No Lock” template (i.e. the updated code you created). Test package 1 has the Password Lock enabled in the package settings. In Test package 2 the password lock setting is disabled. Test package 1 doesn’t work. Test package 2 does.

As all my packages currently have the Password Lock enabled, this means I’ll have to manually disable the Password Lock for every package. I currently have 136 packages, so you can imagine how long it will take me to manually disable each one. Is there any work around to this? Please make any code changes to the “Card embedded – no lock” template, as I need to make other changes on my website before removing the password lock from all packages. Thanks.

I had to return the template to how it was before as I still needed the all the packages password protected. However, after you made the change, the updated template wasn’t working on ANY of the pages except the test page you sent me the link to! I had a lot of users writing to me complaining that they couldn’t download anything! I’m not sure what the issue is, because I created a new link template (“Card Embedded – no lock”) with your updated code to test it on a private page and it works. However, when it was changed in the original “Card Embedded” it didn’t work site-wide.

Hi, I created a test page and inserted the shortcode for this new package template, however it looks the same as before and still doesn’t work. Is there something I’m missing? I’ve attached a screenshot for you to see.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I eventually deactivated W3 Total Cache plugin and that solved the issue completely – there´s evidently a conflict there that wasn´t resolved even with that line of code you added. Hopefully now there won´t be any issue!

Which cache plugin is the problem related to? How do you suggest I solve the problem?

I´ve checked with my web host provider and they have confirmed that the problem is not to do with any restrictions from them. I´ve done some tests of my own and asked friends to test too, and the results are completely random. Some people can download a particular package while others can´t. For example, I tried downloading this package http://www.biggabug.com/flower-field-colours-and-writing-practice-printable/ in Firefox twenty minutes ago and it didn´t work. I tried the same package again 15 minutes later and it worked. One person is able to download it, two others consistently receive expired link notices, regardless of the browser they use. But it´s the same with all the packages – not just this one. Sometimes they work. Sometimes they don´t.

A user notified me that she received an expired link notice the first time she tried to download from the link in the email. This happened on all the packages she tried. I changed the lock option to download directly from the page, and she tried again, but still received expired link notices. I tried the same links and they worked for me. There is clearly an issue that needs resolving. Could it be a problem caused by my web host provider? They have some security measures in place that restrict access from certain countries. Could that be what´s causing it?

Hi, my users are still reporting problems downloading and expired links notices. I have had people unsubscribe from my list due to this issue. This is very bad for my business, as I offer a lot of downloadable material! PLEASE can you look into this issue ASAP and ensure that it really is fixed! People are reporting this problem in Chrome now too.

I have luckily found a workaround to this problem, by requesting that the user be emailed the link instead of directly downloading. However, this is a temporary solution as far as I´m concerned, as I want my users to be able to download instantly and not have to check their emails. I would still like you to fix the issue, and I await your response.
