Ok, will give it a try, thank you.
Hi
Thank you, however, I think we had special files in the template directory to ensure when someone enters their name/email and presses Submit, the file downloads immediately.
With the way WP Download Manager changed the modal pop-up functionality a while back the visitor presses Submit and then has to press Download to get the file, an extra button click that should not be necessary.
How can we get that functionality back using the updated template files?
Thanks
Hi
I have the latest versions:
Download Manager: 6.0.4
WPDM – Extended Short-codes: 2.9.0
It is since updating to these versions the download link has stopped working.
Any other ideas?
Yes, its disappointing nothing’s been done still with so many people expecting a simple admin email. Lets hope they will do something one day, but for now I’m going elsewhere.
Hi Nayeem
I see nothing has been done on this admin email notification from my posts back in September and now another user who thinks a simple admin email should be available by default.
You mentioned back in September you would consider our way of thinking, has any thought been given to it or is it always going to be buy another plugin per your default response above?
In case anyone else is interested this plugin is worth a look as it does send admin notifications when a file is downloaded, just not the waiting for approval option yet: https://www.sharedfilespro.com/
Hi
Yes, this is working now. Thank you for reverting it back to how it was.
Hi
Yes, thats right. As soon as the person clicks Download the download used to start. This only changed recently, I presume through an upgrade.
Can you advise how we can get this old functionality back?
Any response to this Nayeem, or can this be raised to support, I really need this working how it used to.
Hi
Maybe I am not explaining myself very well, but this is not how it has worked in the past. When the user fills their information and presses download, the download should start straight away. There should not be a second button to download the file, how can we stop this message and second button press?
Hi
What do you mean a general flow? This didn’t used to happen, users pressed the Download button after filling their information and the download started. This general flow you mention now adds a second Download button, how do we stop this second download button so the download starts immediately?
Hi Nayeem
Did you have any further response to this?
Thanks
Hi
The text “Download will be started shortly” never used to appear and there shouldn’t be a second Download button. Surely if the press Download it should just download without having to press another button, it never used to do that so I’m unsure whats changed?
Hi Nayeem
Out of interest does the notification add-on allow the admin to see all the subscriber information from custom fields add-on and the ability to approve/deny without having to login to WordPress?
Hi Nayeem
I appreciate the response and that you’re running a business but how can you justify $49 when all I want to do is to send a single admin email notification when an email locked/waiting for admin approval package has been requested for download.
Unless the admin logs in to WordPress every day, presumably multiple times a day, they have no way of knowing a download is waiting for approval.
The person downloading the file gets an email notification once its approved, thats a default template, but not the WordPress admin?
It’s one simple email that I, and I see from other forum posts, many others, would expect to be default functionality as so many WordPress plugins do without asking for more money.
I’ve already spent $59 on the Pro plugin, I also need to add custom fields at another $49, fair enough thats my choice and your site makes it clear that plugin will be needed, but now you expect me to pay another $49 just to get one admin email notification. I really don’t feel that is acceptable.
I can understand if people want various notification options and SMS messages, but not in this email lock/waiting for approval scenario, that should be default functionality.
I have used WP Download Manager on a few sites and it’s become my go to option, but I’m really surprised by this being the first time I’ve used the waiting for approval option, it’s seriously making me rethink using this plugin in future. I hope you change your minds on this, the notifications add-on should be for special circumstances, not simple admin notifications.
Sorry to Rosemarie for high-jacking your post!
Thanks for the response Rosemarie.
I assumed that would be the case, seems like money grabbing to me, will have to have a look at other options but appreciate you responding.
Hi Rosemarie
Did you ever get a response this as I am also looking for how an admin gets notified when email lock is waiting for approval.
I can’t believe this will cost another $49 just to get an admin email notification and really hope they gave you a solution.
Thanks in advance for any info, or WP Download Manager, any response to this?
Ok, that works. Thanks
Hi
yes, thats right.
