Do we need the Premium Packages plugin, or can it be deleted and removed?

Additionally, after I re-enabled the “Download Manager” plugin, it recreated the folder structure in wp-content again. No XML files were placed there, however.

Thank you for confirming that. I’m going to remove that folder structure completely from our server, then re-enable the plugin. We will see how that goes.

In the meantime, should there be two plugins installed and activated on our website? I’m seeing the following:

  1. Download Manager – version 6.1.2
  2. Premium Packages – Sell Digital Products Securely – version 5.2.7

I assume we only need Download Manager. Let me know if we can remove the 2nd one.

Lastly, do you have any indication as to how these files were allowed to be put on our server? The folder was created around 09/30/2020.

wp-content/wpdm-assets/link-templates/1.xml (same for 2.xml).

This issue was showing on, I think, version 6.0.xxx. I’m not sure. I deactivated the plugin as soon as we cleaned up the issue. Then, I upgraded it to the latest/greatest version.

We’d like to reactivate the plugin, but not without some assistance and assurances that this issue is fully resolved.

Good Morning Nayeem,

1.xml and 2.xml in the “link-templates” folder is what our cleanup utility found to be malicious/unsafe. We removed both of these and the redirections on our home page ceased.

I don’t see a way on this forum post to upload screenshots, only links. Is there a way to do that?
