I am guessing I can download the plugin manually and just upload it to the plugin-folder, and then reactivate the pro version with my code. But I want to be sure this is the correct way to update an existing installation of the plugin, without overwriting existing settings and downloads.

Nayeem, sorry if I’m a bit rude, but have you not read my question? I am specifically asking how to update the WPDM version. What’s the point in answering if you don’t read the question? Please read my question and answer if it is possible to update the WPDM plugin without being able to activate the plugin.

Hi!

I’m using php 8.1, WordPress 6.1.1 with theme Iconic One. Google Analytics and Widget for Social Page Feeds are the only other active plugins. WPDM version is 5.0.4. according to WP, which makes no sense since I have updated several times after 2019 when I bought it. Regardless, I would like to update the plugin before doing anything else, and the question is how, when I cannot activate the existing installation.

See next post for temp_admin.

Thank you

I think I know what happened: I have misunderstood the Bulk Import, assuming that the image files are all imported to the Upload folder, as when using the Add New feature under Downloads. After importing I deleted the “temporary” folder to which I uploaded all my files for Bulk Import. But I understand now that with Bulk Import, only the location of the files is stored in the WPDM-database, while the files are left in the original folder. Restoring the “temporary” folder fixed the problem of course.

I was actually thinking about the WPDM Categories widget. How do I customize which template will be used on the dynamic download page when choosing a category from the widget? Right now it seems to be a mix of a customized template and a large heading.

Thanks Shahriar!
Will this solution also change template of existing packages, or only when adding new ones? The reason I ask is because I would like to change the existing page template of many already uploaded packages.
