I have the similar problem. When files are download, automatically generate a file called link-expired.txt , but don’t download the package.
I solved this way thanks to ‘intervennto of Shaon: replace the timthumb.php file with the new version of the script. Link to the new whisker version: http://code.google.com/p/timthumb/source/browse/trunk/timthumb.php
