Yeah, just realized the addon. Maybe some note in docs would help.
However, if I try installing any free add-on from within wp I only get an error message (see attached screenshot).

IMHO providing a shortcode for categories on a page is essential and should not be an option which has to be buyed from users who already buyed the wpdm pro.
