I’m sorry, but I’m not seeing the template. What you are showing is what I need to do, but I’m struggling finding the coding/template.
Please note if this issue cannot be resolved, it appears that I will need to separate all the documents by user type and create sub categories for each user type.
What broke on this program? It used to work and now doesn’t.
This problem has been going on for over six months. The package is set to only Administrators and as soon as I put it in a category with other, everyone can see it. What is the purpose of the package allow access setting if it doesn’t work?
Unfortunately it does not block other users.
WPDM Test Package is set only for Administrators
When I put it into Test Category anyone that is a granted access of that category can see and download it.
I want to be able to organize packages by category and only allow the user types for the package to be able to view and download it, not other member types.
How about either of these options?
or Package Access = Package Access(Author) + Category Access empty = Author
or Package Access = Package Access(Author) & Category Access(Author) = Author
The program still allows CRNA’s to view the Package when it’s set for only Anesthesiologists and Administrators when I put it into a category. The Package “allow access” setting for user roles is still getting overridden by the category access. I’m not talking about individual users, I’m talking about user roles.
Package = WPDM TEST
Allow Access:
Anesthesiologist
Administrator
Category = Quality Program
Select the roles who should have access to the packages under this category:
Staff
CRNA
Anesthesiologist
Administrator
I don’t want them blank. I want the document to appear for the user role selected for the package.
Let’s say I have ten million people or users that fall into five different user roles (a, b, c, d and e).
Then let’s say that I have a package that on people in (user role a) can see so I mark it as such in the package access settings.
Now I want to organize this package into a category. This same category will hold similar documents for three user roles (a, c and d).
As soon as I put the package set only for (user role a) into the category (set for user role a, c and d) the other user roles (c and d) can also see the document. The package is marked only for (user role a), but the category allows it to be seen by user role c and d as well.
The package access is totally ignored and whatever the category settings are take over.
The package should only be seen or downloaded by the allow access settings in the document. If there are no access settings set for the package I totally understand why it would utilize the category settings. However, in this case the package is set for only one user role and the category totally overrides and ignores it and allows c and d to see it as well.
I am totally unable to categorize hundreds of documents because of this. Either I have to leave all of them uncategorized and in the root directory or else I have to create User Role Categories and then put all the documents in redundant sub categories under the user role categories.
Thanks, I purchased and installed the special pack with the plugin. However, it only allows me to select certain individual users. I already put these users into groups/roles for nurses and doctors.
I have a category called human resources. I have assigned certain packages for nurses and certain packages for doctors and want to put them into the human resources category.
The problem is as soon as I associate the package to a category, it ignores the package setting for doctors or nurses and everyone can see and download them that is checked in the category.
How do I make the category not override the package settings? I need to categorize the packages to keep things organized. I just want to make sure that only the doctors can see their documents and only nurses can see theirs and they can’t see each others. If I don’t put them in a category they work fine, but I can’t have a thousand documents unorganized…
Why is it a plus sign for package access and category access? It should be and & sign, not a plus sign. In other words, if they are a package subscriber they must also be a category subscriber.
What file is this SQL search in? I’ll change it myself.
Thanks.
Note: you told me to uncheck all the people in the category to fix the issue. When I do that the entire category disappears.
I have updated to the most current version. I purchased the renewal on all the extra packages as well. This issue has been going on for half a year.
Under Package Setting I allow access to only Anesthesiologist but as soon as I put it in a category, everyone can see it that is checked in that category. This shouldn’t happen. According to the document/package settings it is set for only Anesthesiologist.
This is a critical issue. The category should not allow other users to view a document/package that is only to be viewed by Anesthesiologist.
Please don’t allow the category access settings to supersede the document’s allows access settings.
Here is a link to a video to explain. https://cwanest.com/IMG_4061.mp4
Right now there are two places that I can change who is allowed to access the document. 1. is the document itself and 2. is the category.
If I set the document to only be viewable by doctors, when I put it into a category, it totally ignores the fact that the document is only for doctors and allows anyone to be able to view it that is checked in the category, even though the document is specifically set for only doctors. If I uncheck all the boxes in the category, the category disappears entirely.
I’m not sure how much more I can elaborate… How do I make it so that it only allows access according what is set for the individual document? Right now, if I put it in a category, it supersedes what is set for the document. Again, if I uncheck all the boxes for the category as you recommend, the entire category disappears. I want to categorize by category, but I need the privacy settings for individual users be upheld for each document. Why is this so difficult to understand?
The problem is we have doctors and nurses that each can only see documents related to their position. We want to be able to categorize the documents, so we don’t have to create two categories for each type of user.
So if I’m a doctor, when I look at the tree I should only see the documents that are allowed for doctors according to the package settings. If I’m a nurse I would see only the ones for nurses in that category.
Unfortunately, your program overrides the document/package settings with the category settings. If I deselect all user types for the category as recommended above the entire category disappears.
I again feel that this is a bug. The individual package setting MUST ALWAYS BE ADHERED TO even if it gets put in a category. Right now as soon as I move the package to a category, it totally ignores the package settings. This should NOT happen.
Thanks. Chris
How do I make it so it only uses access level of the document/package and not the category? If I uncheck all the boxes as recommended the entire category disappears.
Access:
When I uncheck all the boxes it removes the category entirely from https://cwanest.com/cm-download-view/.
Select the roles who should have access to the packages under this category
All Visitors
Staff
CRNA
Anesthesiologist

Is there a way to still allow the category to appear if all the boxes are unchecked? I could adjust the PHP myself, but I fear it would be overridden in the next update. Thanks
When I uncheck the category access roles it removes the category entirely. Thanks.
Is there a way to turn off checking for access for categories entirely and only checking for package access setting?
The problem is if I check the roles on the category option it overrides the package settings that I select under Allow Access.
There are packages for different users that all fall under the same category.
In other words Governance is a category which have packages for CRNAs and Doctors, but we don’t want the one group to be able to see the other’s documents just because it’s in the Governance category.
Thanks. Chris
It seems to me that this is a bug. If the “allow access” on the package is set to just one type of user, it should not matter what the category is set to. The document’s settings should be priority over whatever roles are set for the category.
My reasoning for this is let’s say I have 100 categories and 100 different types of users, from your logic I would have to create 100 different sub categories for each type of user:
Category 1
Sub Cat for User Type 1
Show File if logged in as User Type 1
Sub Cat for User Type 2
Show File if logged in as User Type 2
Sub Cat for User Type 3
Show File if logged in as User Type 3
While instead it should be:
Category 1
Show File if logged in as User Type 1
Show File if logged in as User Type 2
Show File if logged in as User Type 3
Where do I change it to only allow access for the document’s setting? Or how do I make it so the document settings are always adhered to regardless of the category settings? Category settings should not trump the documents settings.
Thanks. Chris
