Hi Shaon
ok I understand.
Currently the message they are shown, immediately after the click in the email, tells them we have already created the account, which is not correct, so buyers will be confused. Looks like we will need to edit the message.
I’d like to give you some honest feedback
I’m quite annoyed at having to redo all our changes over the last couple of days, after the reinstall. It has made this a loss project for us. I seriously considered dumping this software and using something else instead. What ever fixes you make to the software , updates cannot involve reinstalling everything and losing changes. I think there are too many hardcoded text and layouts in core files, and often the language users can see is not good. So I expect that we will not be able to update this in the future without considerable expense in time to preserve our changes
You have been very helpful though, and thanks for that.

Hi Shaon
ok, getting there
I did a successful checkout, creating a user for myself as I checked out.
The next test I enabled Guest checkout, and went through checkout ok
Then clicked on the link and got a page a bit like this
https://goo.gl/3zMyPF
but with an extra message, something like “Congratualtions on creating an acocunt”
But how does the buyer know anything about the account, like user name or password?
I tried a “recover password ” but the email isn’t in the db.
Should the user get an email, or some info about the user/pwd for the created account?

Hi Shaon
the current package looks the same date and version, even filesize is same as the one I’m using. I only installed it a week ago
Doesn’t look like it has any recently modified files

Are you sure this is a revised package for me?
I have reinstalled anyway (it has overwritten all my changes putting me back a days works which is not great ) but sadly it still doesn’t fully work.
I seem to have got past that initial error but it isn’t possible to sign in with the logins I created during checkout, and those logins have not been saved in the database when I search for them, so they can’t be recovered

I’ll send you the download link and login in a private reply

thank you
Hi Shaon
I had tried that already without success.
I tried using “the book” and “A visualisation”
Then I tried uploading a new pdf without the apostrophe char, and that fixed it
( Filename was “When Work Isn’t Working.pdf”)
Working now

Hi Shaon,
looks like excluding guest buyers is not the answer, same error message when I tried that.
This is what I did
I then checked the database and the user name and email address are not being saved anywhere so cannot be used or recovered.
I’m guessing maybe the same “/tpls/” isssue is causing the fail to save logins
I’d be be grateful for a response

Hi Shaon
found the missing file here wp-content\plugins\download-manager\tpls\wpdm-be-member.php
Don’t really want to start changing the core files, as I’m guessing there are regular updates to these.
Do I need an updated set of files? Looks like I have the latest version.
I’ve switched off Guest buyer option for now

Gary
Hi Shaon
“Guest buyer” is a better description than “non users” in this issue
