Hmmm, guess it must not be possible.
Anyone else managed to display a web page when downloading from an email link?
Thanks, but there’s not really a URL as such. I’m just testing. I just wished to know if there is a method to display some content after the user clicks the download link which comes in the email.
In order to test it, you could visit https://agilatech.com/download/lynxari-2-0-0-linux-x64/ and then agree to the terms, and then enter your email, and then click the link in the email.
Thanks
Thanks for your reply. The solution your reference is simply to use a cli output option of wget, which is always available to anyone downloading a file from anywhere.
I understand WPDM generates dynamic download links, however, really only the keys are dynamic–the base url is always the same. Can you tell me what piece of code contains the ‘index.html’ static name? At least then I could change it to ‘billybob.zip’, or whatever…
Thanks,
Scott
REALLY? I have to do THIS?
Please deactivate and delete old version
Download latest version again
Install and active the latest version.
Deleting old plugin will not harm your existing data.
I see there’s six pages of requests here. This thread has the most traffic of ANY support thread. Everyone just simply wants the standard method of updating plugins. This entire thread would probably not even exist if the update method were standardized. Is this not something your team can accomplish?
Okay, thank you, that did work. I set the wpdm_download_link_expiration_limit to 1 in the plock if block.
I would have sworn I tried it with success more than 3 times before, but I must be mistaken since now it only allows 1 time, even if the same user copies the link URL and pastes in a new browser tab.
I can’t expect buyers of my software to register as a user on my site, and I also didn’t want to limit the downloads that 1 person supplying the proper password could download.
I will admit that I got a bit upset here at first, thinking I had purchased a plugin which seemed useless to me. But I am glad you responded with this workaround, and quite promptly I should not hesitate to add.
Thanks.
I’m sorry, that is NOT the case. I can send the link to a completely different user on a different computer using a different browser with absolutely no relationship at all. The link WILL allow this completely different visitor to download the file.
Once it is used by a different visitor, only THEN will it substitute in the ‘link-expired.txt’ file.
I just bought and downloaded version 4.6.8 so I am using the most current version.
