I use version 3.3.36 of Download Manager and have wpdm_package shortcode included on many pages.
Since one of the latest updates, the shortcodes strings are displayed in the frontend, e.g. the user sees [__wpdm_package id=’1851′] instead of the download widget that is to displayed in this place.
In the backend editor the shortcode is correctly inserted as [wpdm_package id='1851'] – without the double underscore at the beginning as shown in the frontend.
Please advise how to solve this.

It can have a conflict between your plugins or theme for the latest version. You can disable one by one other plugins for testing if there any conflicts. You may also check by switching theme to another for checking. Please kindly check.

I disabled all plugins except the WP Download Manager and switched to WP standard theme, but the issue is still there with version 3.3.36.
It seems to be a similar issue as reported with https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/support/topic/shortcode-being-shown-on-page-apparent-loop-issue/
If you are using WPDM shortcodes inside the packages content editor, You can not use any wpdm short-code inside package description now, as it may create infinite loop, so it has been disabled. Please kindly check and let me know if you have any queries more.

Thank you for your reply. This is very bad news. We run serveral sites with hundred of pages with the WPDM shortcode inside the packages content editor. There never has been a problem in the past. The error only come up with your update 3.3.33. So we had to downgrade to 3.3.32 until you can offer a permanent solution.
For creating infinite loop issue, it has been disabled by our team authority. Please kindly check and let me know if you have any queries more. Please kindly check.

Thank you for your reply. I understand that there is an issue with infinite loops. However, in this case this bug shoud be fixed instead of disabling the entire feature.
