Is there a way to hide empty categories of WP Download Manager categories widget ?

Could you please share the related url of the example page to check the issue properly? Also let me know if you are using any addons of wpdm with wpdm.

Hello,
You can hide empty categories by editing
..\wp-content\plugins\download-manager\src\Widgets\Categories.php
then make the false into true and save the file.
Remember that if wpdm updates, then this change will be removed and you need to make the change again.
