I started getting this error when I try to access the download page from the frontend.
TypeError thrown
explode(): Argument #2 ($string) must be of type string, WP_Error given

Sorry for your inconvenience. I have checked your issue. The issue you are claiming is working properly from our side. I think it may have a conflict between your plugins or theme. can you please enable/disable other plugins for checking, you may also switch the theme to another for checking. please check and then let us know.
