I have to re upload my translation file every time the plugin is updated. Is there a fix for that?

Which translation plugin are you using to manage the translations?

I use Poedit. And yes, that location. Do I need something else than the .po file? Not sure what the .mo file is?
I was asking whether there is any translation plugin, such as Loco Translate, which allows you to easily translate strings directly from the WordPress dashboard.
If you prefer to upload the translation files manually, please upload them to the following location:
/wp-content/languages/plugins/download-manager-de_DE.po
/wp-content/languages/plugins/download-manager-de_DE.mo
