Hi:
I have hundreds of files, I tag them by category. when i click “manage files” page in admin it just lists the hundreds of files. There is no drop down to sort by category. I have read the forums and tried to research as much as I can.
Seems like a feature that has to be there, i just cant find it?

For that you will need wpdm free v2.7 ( http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wordpress-download-manager-v2-7-0/ ) or wpdm pro v4
I see you are using wpdm v2.6, the category parameter support for wpdm_tree is only available from v2.7 http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wordpress-download-manager-v2-7-0/

this has not been easy using this plugin but it has a lot of potential. we have about 30 clients that need a good download tool.
So we tried 2.7, that did not work out well in testing. Lots of same issues.
We have changed our site to match the capabilities of the plugin better and not using tree view just category view. That said we read your docs and forums and still cant get this to work right.
The page just has about 15 documents. Our goal:
have them listed in alpha order and control the amount found on the page prior to pagination.
It refuses to accept anything we put in. here is the current code and page

I am sure it must do this, what are we doing wrong?
for 2.6, category short-code should be like this:
[wpdm_category id=cid order_field="field name" order="desc/asc" items_per_page=20]

Thanks so much for responding to posts. Its very good of you! That said your plugin is great but i want to put my head through a wall with it. Nothing works as stated. Even your support which is great, just doesnt work. I have spent so many hours on this plugin its mind numbing.
Does the paid version really work? I am happy to pay if that version works and this is just a free/kinda works with a LOT of grease. I get that model and happy to do it.
So I tried your short code above exactly and it still doesnt work. Can you tell me where in your code the default value of asc/desc is so i can change it in the code and be done with this customer? I dont want z-a, rather a-z. No idea why its defaulting to z-a.
Apologies if I sound a little crazy, I am not, just tired of this customer and having to adjust so many times around this plugin.
I will rate you high because you have always answered and will not mention anything as well.
