Shortcode for category with description text

I want to show downloads with a certain catagory on a page. this works easily with a shortcode. But is there a way to also show the descrition?
I know this is possible if you embed a single file. But i want people to be able to upload files to categories, which are then displayed on this page:

thanx for your answer. I installed 2.7 but still don’t know, how i can display a catagory with the download description of every item displaying.
