After upgrading this morning my site went down, displaying only a blank page. After troubleshooting plugins I discovered WP Download Manager was the offending culprit. I tried to re-install, v 2.8.8 and when trying to activate I get an error “plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home3/speakupp/public_html/wp-content/plugins/download-manager/download-manager.php on line 12.
I am running X-theme. Please advise.
Exact same issue here. Just installed the plugin for the first time.
But my plugin is version 2.8.9
The same problem as above after updating the plugin. Back to older version for the time being.
Extremely sorry for your inconvenience. In last update we have improved code base and using namespace, which require php v5.3.0+ ( http://php.net/manual/en/language.namespaces.rationale.php ), may you please update your server php version, however if that is not possible, you can get back the previous version from here https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/download-manager.2.8.3.zip .
Hi Jass, thank you for the information. I updated my PHP version to 5.4 on my hosting site and that resolved the issue. All is working fine now.
